But, he's funny. Is it possible to just forbid him from doing domain auction?

No, he is like that bad maniac computer from “star trek lower decks”. Given oportunity, he will malice.

Domain auctions were his passion -- his reason for being on the forum -- so it would be cruel if we let him back on the forum but prohibited him from doing domain auctions!

    Like many people in life

That said, if we let him return, it wouldn't be fair to users who hold fair domain auctions

some interesting mjj translations i encountered (some may be wrong, i'm still learning mjj)

affman - an affiliate person (usually making huge nodeseek post with tons of aff links to some provider)
oneman - a single person operating an IDC
IDC - small provider usually ran by one person
    merchant - service provider
    hearse - deadpool
airport - server used for proxy (v2ray/vless) by many mjjs
carpooling - any service shared between mjjs (can be buying one subscription and splitting it between mjjs), vpses also can be carpooled
line crashed - gfw blocked or changed some international route (line) causing much packet loss/latency
    work order - ticket
    dispute - chargeback (usually paypal)
    push - service transfer
self-service push - automatic way of transferring the service to another account (i think cloudcone/hosthatch/ovh have something like this)
push notification - transferring service via ticket
shipment to original email address - transferring service by changing email address owner
unblocking - using a vps/vpn to access services normally unavailable in china
return to china - google/other service started recognizing some IP address as originating from china
    native ip - broadband/residential IP
broadcast ip - ip location differs from actual one in geoip databases

    adding on

    • computer room: server location
    • oil pipe: bandwidth/connectivity
    • fragrant chicken: good connectivity to chyynnaa
    • detour: unoptimized routing

I asked Deepseek for ways to make sense of Nodeseek and it gave me a table of translations. I thought it was so good that I got it to generate a markdown version so I could share it here.

    Term Translation Explanation
小鸡 "Xiǎo jī" (Little Chicken) A common nickname for a low-cost VPS (Virtual Private Server). The term "MJJ" (see next entry) is derived from it.
MJJ "Méi jī jī" (No Dick) A self-deprecating term for VPS hobbyists, originating from the Hostloc forum. It is a pun often translated as "chicken buyer" (买鸡鸡) or "no dick" (没鸡鸡).
吃灰 "Chī huī" (Eating Dust) Buying a VPS or other tech product and then not using it, leaving it idle or "gathering dust".
大盘鸡 "Dà pán jī" (Big Plate Chicken) A humorous term for a VPS offering a large amount of storage space at a low price.
超售 "Chāo shòu" (Overselling) Selling more virtual server resources than the physical hardware can actually support. This is a common and often controversial practice among VPS providers.
杜甫/毒妇 "Dúfù" (Dúfù / Dùfǔ) This refers to a dedicated server (独服). The term originates from a common pinyin input typo.
传家宝 "Chuán jiā bǎo" (Family Heirloom) A highly sought-after VPS plan that is no longer sold by the provider, often leading to high resale value among hobbyists.
oneman "Yī gè rén" (One-man) An Internet Data Center (IDC) service run by a single person, which may carry a higher risk of the business closing suddenly.
石头盘 / 钻石盘 "Shítou pán / Zuànshí pán" (Stone Disk / Diamond Disk) Sarcastic terms for a VPS with extremely slow disk I/O performance.
机场 "Jīchǎng" (Airport) A colloquial term for a proxy service used to bypass internet restrictions, referencing the airplane icon used by many VPN clients.
探针 "Tànzhēn" (Probe) A simple PHP script used to monitor a server's key performance metrics, often shared among hobbyists.
刀 / 刀乐 "Dāo / Dāo lè" (Knife / Knife Joy) A phonetic translation of "dollar," referring to the US currency often used for VPS payments.
黄牛 "Huáng niú" (Scalper) An individual who buys and sells VPS plans (often limited or "heirloom" types) for a profit.
龟壳 / 王八 "Guī ké / Wáng ba" (Turtle Shell / Turtle) A nickname for Oracle Cloud and its always-free tier, referencing the company's logo.
AFF Affiliate Refers to an affiliate referral link used to promote a product for a commission.
CF Cloudflare A major content delivery network (CDN) provider, frequently discussed in VPS circles for its free tier.
CC Claude Code In AI contexts ("L站"), refers to an AI coding tool from Anthropic.

What is dmit? How to say “I need 7$/year vps” and “This is my work order”?

DMIT.io provides cost-effective optimized line VPS for MJJ, what most people use to build a VPN like network across the Great Firewall. (When @FAT32 comes to China, he should need this-like too.)

    How cheap is DMIT pricing?

previous Black Friday/Christmas deals, the starting price was $39.9/y with 1c1g 20G

That's more expensive than what I imagine. If I go to mainland, I usually spend around $1/day (or less) on esim (depending on the length of the trip). Perhaps it's useful if I want to download lots of stuff while on wifi.
(Please DM advanced vpn technique other than using ssh tunnel :D)

    I will dm u :D

I didn't ask on Nodeseek, but someone there started a thread discussing this one and nobody has said something is obviously wrong yet, but I'm monitoring it: https://www.nodeseek.com/post-714959-1

My plan is to build a pre-translation dictionary to translate Nodeseek slang into meaningful Chinese and then translate that into English, so once I have enough content from their RSS feeds I'll test it for correctness.

It started by suggesting a Chinese internet slang translator called NBNHHSH, but that didn't work for Nodeseek slang so I'll translate the specific Nodeseek terms first, then I'll use NBNHHSH and finally I'll Google translate it to hopefully get meaningful translations.

Learned about it around 2012, lots of references to it in a forum. Never saw the game, I'm not even a gamer.

Probably the only reference to a game that I know, very funny indeed, stood the test of time apparently. I thought it was from the late 90's but wikipedia says it's from 1989 so, pretty old indeed.

Besides that one there's another reference relating computer games and hardware performance that I learned about 15 years ago, I know it was already old by then but not how old. I'll drop that one here some day to see how you react. I loved it then and I still love it now, it's a shame i don't see it used anymore!

Yeah, there is like 7.5 quadrillion memes these days but hardly any of them has much of a lifespan anymore. A couple of days ago i went to look for the original Son i am disappoint meme (the one with the neckless guy) and i was pretty certain i would easily find it on tenor.com but nope... Seems it doesn't even exist between all those (largely unknown and irrelevant) images. Time sure flies.

Kind of, i guess. I figure there probably are bound to be some somewhere though. Just the chance of getting exposed or them catching on isn't very high since there is way to many bubbles on the internet these days with none of those being large enough to make much of an impact in the grand scheme of things.

Pretty much like there aren't enough LETers to spread something like $7 or debian thx across the wider internet. Stuff like all your base had the advantage of the internet still being comparatively small when it came about so most people around at that time likely got exposed to it in one way or another. Jeez, even 2010s internet would probably look like a sleepy slow moving village to generation Tiktok.
