Does this software really defend against DDoS attacks ?

Has Anybody tried it? what was the result?

  • Its only helpful for preventing DoS attacks. Less likely to help you from a DDoS.

    No.

If it was effective, nobody will need to rely on DDoS protection (eg blacklotus, cloudflare, etc)

It only helps to minimize the effects of DoS against your server by DROPPING connections at layer 2.
