I asked Deepseek for ways to make sense of Nodeseek and it gave me a table of translations. I thought it was so good that I got it to generate a markdown version so I could share it here.
| Term | Translation | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| 小鸡 | "Xiǎo jī" (Little Chicken) | A common nickname for a low-cost VPS (Virtual Private Server). The term "MJJ" (see next entry) is derived from it. |
| MJJ | "Méi jī jī" (No Dick) | A self-deprecating term for VPS hobbyists, originating from the Hostloc forum. It is a pun often translated as "chicken buyer" (买鸡鸡) or "no dick" (没鸡鸡). |
| 吃灰 | "Chī huī" (Eating Dust) | Buying a VPS or other tech product and then not using it, leaving it idle or "gathering dust". |
| 大盘鸡 | "Dà pán jī" (Big Plate Chicken) | A humorous term for a VPS offering a large amount of storage space at a low price. |
| 超售 | "Chāo shòu" (Overselling) | Selling more virtual server resources than the physical hardware can actually support. This is a common and often controversial practice among VPS providers. |
| 杜甫/毒妇 | "Dúfù" (Dúfù / Dùfǔ) | This refers to a dedicated server (独服). The term originates from a common pinyin input typo. |
| 传家宝 | "Chuán jiā bǎo" (Family Heirloom) | A highly sought-after VPS plan that is no longer sold by the provider, often leading to high resale value among hobbyists. |
| oneman | "Yī gè rén" (One-man) | An Internet Data Center (IDC) service run by a single person, which may carry a higher risk of the business closing suddenly. |
| 石头盘 / 钻石盘 | "Shítou pán / Zuànshí pán" (Stone Disk / Diamond Disk) | Sarcastic terms for a VPS with extremely slow disk I/O performance. |
| 机场 | "Jīchǎng" (Airport) | A colloquial term for a proxy service used to bypass internet restrictions, referencing the airplane icon used by many VPN clients. |
| 探针 | "Tànzhēn" (Probe) | A simple PHP script used to monitor a server's key performance metrics, often shared among hobbyists. |
| 刀 / 刀乐 | "Dāo / Dāo lè" (Knife / Knife Joy) | A phonetic translation of "dollar," referring to the US currency often used for VPS payments. |
| 黄牛 | "Huáng niú" (Scalper) | An individual who buys and sells VPS plans (often limited or "heirloom" types) for a profit. |
| 龟壳 / 王八 | "Guī ké / Wáng ba" (Turtle Shell / Turtle) | A nickname for Oracle Cloud and its always-free tier, referencing the company's logo. |
AFF |
Affiliate | Refers to an affiliate referral link used to promote a product for a commission. |
CF |
Cloudflare | A major content delivery network (CDN) provider, frequently discussed in VPS circles for its free tier. |
CC |
Claude Code | In AI contexts ("L站"), refers to an AI coding tool from Anthropic. |

@Méi jī jī should summon @emgh I guess.
I still stand my point being a chickenist.
fun.
I'm curious about how "chicken" became a sym for "small VPS" on LET. Is this the cultural output of MJJ?
That helps... what?
MJJ's word creation skills are YYDS
The English language just isn't enough to describe it
Dufu is actually pretty nice word. Cool sound.
It won't replace
DediThe word chicken has the same pronunciation as machine (vps). "Ji"
That’s really MJJ’s cultural output, which is a bit interesting.
Your chicken is really small
CC = cloudcone
Where's @Telegram
CC is CloudCone, not Claude Code
tg is abbreviated to telegram
RN=RackNerd

GreenCloud=GC (or "绿帽云" "宝强云")
Chicken Farm = 探针
Netcup=nc / NC
DMIT=大妈
I mean the Doraemon
He was assassinated by @angstrom -dono after bidding on his own auction and other stuff
What is dmit? How to say “I need 7$/year vps” and “This is my work order”?
DMIT.io provides cost-effective optimized line VPS for MJJ, what most people use to build a VPN like network across the Great Firewall. (When @FAT32 comes to China, he should need this-like too.)
I need 7$/year vps: 7刀,鸡来!
This is my work order: 看下工单
How cheap is DMIT pricing?
some interesting mjj translations i encountered (some may be wrong, i'm still learning mjj)

We want all the chickens!!!
That's more expensive than what I imagine. If I go to mainland, I usually spend around $1/day (or less) on esim (depending on the length of the trip). Perhaps it's useful if I want to download lots of stuff while on wifi.
)
(Please DM advanced vpn technique other than using ssh tunnel
No "mothership"? Disappointed...
宋仲基
Wow. Pretty unique and kinda interesting niche vocabulary. Does the nodeseek is successor to hostloc? Can anyone tell some story about how web hosting industry evolved in China given how strict their policies are on network?
How's IT sector overall? For example: which programming languages are now most popular in China? Does the programming is deemed prestige work or not?
A small correction: @Telegram is alive and well, but we're inclined to keep him away from the forum, given his misdeeds
But, he's funny. Is it possible to just forbid him from doing domain auction?
