Anyone else seeing UDP throttling on GreenCloudVPS?
in Providers
Hi all,
I've been trying to optimize a WireGuard VPN tunnel running on one of their VPS boxes and hit a consistent ~360 Mbps wall. Narrowed it down to inbound UDP being capped at the network level on the VPS.
Test setup:
- Separate VPS on a different network sending 700 Mbps UDP to the GreenCloudVPS box
- Sender shows 700 Mbps out, 0% loss
- GreenCloudVPS receiver gets ~415 Mbps with 41% packet loss
- TCP between the same two servers: no issues, 700+ Mbps both ways
- Outbound UDP from GreenCloudVPS: also fine at ~700 Mbps
So inbound UDP being dropped, which kills WireGuards UDP throughput. TCP through the tunnel is fine at the same ~360 Mbps ceiling.
I've ruled out:
- CPU bottleneck (both ends have headroom)
- Home router/firewall (pfSense, no traffic shaping, tested without firewall)
- WireGuard config (kernel module, tuned buffers, AVX2 enabled)
- VPS network cap (TCP gets full speed)
Is this is a known GreenCloudVPS thing or specific to certain locations/plans? What are y'all getting for UDP throughput on their boxes?
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried asking them (greencloud) directly via ticket?
Yes, I opened one
No I created a ticket with HostGator instead in case they can figure it out
If not I will create one with the provider
And what was their response?
That is the way to go
marmaladegator
Try Dreamhost, they are much better
No limitations on the GreenCloud end, but they will check with the upstream provider
Maybe due to DDoS-protection filters.
probably
and what was the purpose of this thread then? :
he hid it from you in the last line
