How much are you planning to commit to? Also what location? HE and Cogent can get pretty cheap. Zayo is gonna most likely be a bit more.
Location would be east coast US (don't really want to get more specific currently). Commit to 10G.
Rates in major metro vs middle of nowhere (+ backhaul) will vary significantly. I would expect 10G HE/Cogent to be at or under dollar 1 / mbps, and anywhere from 200-600/month for cross connect
I do have several carrier neutral DCs (IX onsite possibly) in mind, so backhaul doesn't concern me.
I"m not NDA, but I am very small customer when requesting quote.
My last quotes were about $500/m for XC ( N . b. : carrier neutral does not mean free XC, IX does not mean free XC or they allow selling transit over the IX) and $1k-1.5k/m for 10G cogent, $1.25k for 10G HE.
The last few times I have used cogent I have never been posisbility to to push 10G on Cogent in single flows, I'd had to split them such as 10x 1G http separate downloads to reach 10G
I would suggest buying from a blended mix if possible. Unless you bring in at least two upstreams.
We've seen multiple providers down for sometimes days at a time from a fiber cut etc. Typically even some minor outages. If you have the option.
Cogent and HE will be the cheapest options the costs of cross connects can also add up quickly.
Cross connects are a racket.
Change my mind.
Preach.
10 Gbps on a 10 Gbps port should be under $800 from Zayo and Cogent. You can get it with a 100 GB burstable port for $800 with a little struggle.
HE might be a little cheaper. But they do not do burst ports.
If you need a sales rep referral to any of those providers lmk.
We would sell 10gbps unmetered for $500.
