Deadpool maybe it's already happened twice.
not looking good
What's the guys gameplan to profit from rug pulling VPS hosting? I guess having customers pay for annual services and then not fulfilling it?
Well, I've talked to him before in the past a few times, specifically around issues with mutual providers before. He never seemed like someone with bad intentions to me, whatever the problem is now. Hopefully everything is ok.
my servers been down for 5 days. no tickets answered. prepaid for the year too. smh
persistent
did the kiddo that owned this company massage you in dms or still
no response here, just charged me for another month. When I've had issues he has always responded quickly.
Information taken from their network status website.
how do you even find this provider? they dont sell here?

Scouring the barren wasteland that is WHT, a relic of hosting days gone by.
So basically encrypted disk + no backups or exit scam.
It sounds like it, as they are now different company so no liabilities, from their website:
“Down for Maintenance (Err 3)
Due to Madcityservers being hacked we had to start over. We are now ChicagoServers If your server is online now it will remain online. We lost 4 nodes in New York and an ip range in LAX was compromised due to this hack. We were able to restore access again to that subnet in LAX and those servers are now online. Since we have no user data base anymore we will be adding your email and server server to our system manually. It will take a few days. You will receive an email from [email protected] to reset your password. Those who do not reset their password will have their server suspended. We are not charging for services at all next month. Sorry for this issue. We had some servers on Madcityservers deleted by the hacker. We didnt want anymore. There were a lot of servers deleted in Miami. If you had a server in Miami and it is offline then it is one of the ones deleted. We will open up registrations in a few days once we get everything working again.”
I think mine in NYC was one of the deleted servers, I was using the daily full vm backup script on Madcityservers not sure if that survived? same server? I do have other site backups on various s3 services.
Now that (what they are writing) makes little to no sense... On one hand they claim to have no user database anymore but then there's seemingly enough information to map servers (at least in one location) to emails since otherwise there would be no "email from [email protected] to reset your password".
Hard to say what happened exactly (maybe payment problems in one/some locations?) but there is no actual reason why a "hack" would force you to "start over" (well at least assuming that emails responsible for the company domain weren't hosted on exactly that infrastructure and even then it would be highly likely that some actual paperwork could resolve being locked out of the respective registrar account). Like the story wasn't already crazy enough when they claimed to try meeting "the next deadline" for some "200k" ransom. As if the whole "company" would likely be worth even 1/10 of that...
In any case it seems to be some very non-serious operation i would stay the hell away from...
So this is "restart" #4? Not a customer just curious, sorry for your losses.

I hate it when hackers sneak in and delete my servers.
Madcityservers LLC/Hotlineservers CEO Brian Warren has deadpooled few times before. Look it up.

Seems @Madcity got a little mad about what i wrote
He PM u?
madhackedservers
flagged for ban evasion @Madcityservers
he mad at me too
Yeah. Somewhat predictably he left my question if i could post our conversation unanswered though.
Well, that kind of explains why he would rather call me dumb in private than jump on the opportunity to destroy my purrfect reputation in public. And there i was thinking he didn't post here because the place was full of little whiny bitches. Well, i am dumb, what can i say?
Can't really dispute the fact that LET loves some good old fashioned drama though.
Hahaha. Serves you well, dickhead!
yea if you say anything bad about them, he will pm you with insults instead of posting it publicly for everyone to see. Weird Behavior. If a mod checks their pm inbox can probably find a lot of these instances. I'm guessing its to evade getting reported to a mod. Also there is no way to report pm or block pm directly like on here.
It makes no sense at all - how could they allow such a weird setup that’s so easily "hackable"? How would their "hackers" be able to access and manage the infrastructure, VM nodes, and client area?
Lmao
they got too much bad rep so they have to rebrand. Funny how its .org
@CharityHost_org
Oh, its not like i mind or anything. He can call me names all day long if that is his shtick. I just want to be able to share with my fellow LETers since sharing is caring!
Good question. Aside of pure bullshit maybe a rootkit on an admin PC or massive password/key reuse? Your guess is as good as mine.
The emails are supposedly from the proxmox clusters though (which is what makes me dumb - no idea how much sense that makes) and it is seemingly just his billing db, which is toast (he didn't reply to that but didn't object to it either).
Oh and he supposedly refunded "some" people. I am not sure which though since while i had specifically asked for those who were on the deleted boxes but he just replied that he had done so for "some users" and left the conversation, which made me like really, really sad.
