I'm curious, is Minecraft that heavy these days? How many users do you have? Have you tried Minetest?
I ran a Minecraft server many years ago and didn't find it was terribly resource hungry. Not a whole lot of users either, though. Maybe 10, or something?
@slowservers well a vanilla server with just a few players on my own servers uses 6gb of ram and a fair few cores if people are generating new chunks. this server is meant to be for a friend - he has 10-20 people who want to play on a large modpack. normal mc server host recommended 12-16gb and wanted 60$ for it. told him to just get a vps instead

For a modded server yeah. The CPU performance especially matters a lot for that, hence their request for Ryzen presumably. For a vanilla type server with PaperMC or another optimized software, not so much (and for that, a cheap dedi is probably better.)
