EU 20th Sanctions Package Targets Crypto – What Does This Mean for Hosting & Payments?

The EU has just adopted its 20th sanctions package against Russia, and for the first time, there seems to be a much stronger focus on crypto and payment infrastructure.

From what I understand so far, the new measures don’t just target specific exchanges, but go broader:

  • Ban on interaction with Russia-linked crypto service providers
  • Targeting of stablecoins and payment systems used to bypass sanctions
  • Increased focus on platforms operating via third countries to avoid regulation
  • Crackdown on infrastructure enabling sanctions evasion

What about Cryptomus and Heleket that are widely used by hosting providers? They are both Russian companies registered in other countries and at least Heleket has sourced liquidity from Garantex that is sanctioned.

None of these are (as far as I know) explicitly sanctioned by name, but they seem to fall right into the category the EU is now targeting.

Is this going to be implemented as a ban on all crypto payments to Russian providers?

Do you know anything?

This thread is about crypto payments and the impact of the new laws, not the war.

Off-topic discussion about the war can be taken to:
