No I just never thought of this as long as I stay within monthly transfer limits. I wouldn't want to get blacklisted as a customer for using any provider like this but thought it was more common to front self-hosted services with a VPS for their better access to large networks and superior routing.
Just to clarify, the attacks are plain TCP SYN floods, not anything mimicking actual game traffic. Pretty straightforward volumetric stuff, nothing L7. Does that change anything?
Another thing for me is that my ISP doesn't offer IPv6, so I lease a /48 from FRC and a very wonderful LET provider announces it. I then use a VPS with that provider to route the /48 home over WireGuard using IPv4, then I get to have IPv6 at home without a janky tunnelbroker service. This is a total separate usecase, but one I get a ton of value from.
BTW thanks for your answers. I have some curiosity because I don't operate a business and I want to understand better rather than end up being a POS without realizing it.
Guys what about https://terabit.io/ddos-protection are they known?
IDK but if you can tolerate the Netherlands as the location then @RoyaleHosting may be good for you -- https://royalehosting.net/cart/configure/18 ddos protection is included also with their VPS and they do specialize in gameserver ordeals
https://royalehosting.net/ddos-protection
it's basically their niche

Is it possible for you to help me with some GRE or VXLAN tunnel for my game server vps? Its just a request since I don't know much about that plus making it work with my pterodactyl setup
Rather not sorry, wouldn't want to touch someone's servers hosted elsewhere and mess with the network/firewall setup. Too much liability, and I don't recommend people use tunnels anyway since it's another point of failure. Best bet is to use an AI tool to give you steps on how to setup a GRE between two servers, but since you're changing the OS networking things can go wrong so you need dedicated remote access/IPMI/VNC for your server.
What actual game server is it? Does the game use TCP traffic only or UDP?
So it's not a single game server but combination of multiple game servers using both TCP + UDP traffic, It's a shared vps on which I've hosted my pterodactyl wings. I can use seperate TCP and UDP ports if required to
Also are there any reliable guide or docs which can help me setup VXLAN or GRE tunnel myself which will work properly. Thanks again
Someone who's an expert in this and can setup a VXLAN or GRE Tunnel and make it work completely fine with my pterodactyl setup?
That's us. I'd be happy to chat about our solution with you if that interests you. We do have presence in Singapore and Japan, with presence in South Korea coming soon, and we have a fully custom, automated portal that can provision GRE tunnels, setup BGP sessions and manually manage announcements. A ton of baked in features include real-time attack alerts via Webhooks (Slack, Discord, Generic), in-depth after-attack reporting including top sources, ASNs, countries and much more.
