Best VPS for 10 euros a month?
For context, I have a yt-dlp site (globalvideo.download) and jellyfin on the same 3GB Black Friday 2025 Racknerd VPS (my jellyfin movies are on an rclone drive, pointing to an encrypted folder on my Google Drive. I also don't transcode on jellyfin for performance reasons), I want to host my movies on the server itself to move away from rclone because it's unreliable.
I have decided that I want to pay a maximum of 10€/month, I only these requirements for the server:
- Location: Europe
- Disk: Around 500gb minimum
The other specs (cores, ram, etc.) can be interpreted by you based on my situation. I'd say 8GB/4 vCPU cores, but I'm not too sure.
Thank you ✌️

Hi.
I think @layer7 could be able to offer you some storage plan for this price in France or Germany
@James404_
We can offer you the below deal in France/Estonia in europe
Test IPs: France - 94.23.247.216, Estonia - 193.3.189.134
2vCPU
8GB RAM
400GB SSD
10TB Bandwidth @ 1Gbps
$120/yr (approx 10€/month)
DM me for custom order link if interested.
Why not seedbox for this ? There are plenty with big disks for 10 euros. If you are for storage vps you can get hostbrr novacloud ultravps and layer7 in eu or dedirock and servarica in ca/us for cheap.
This one is still active, you can check it out although ram/cpu are not the ones you ask, but they will suffice for jellyfin without transcode.

If you have 14 euros/month best is to get dedicated from kimsufi KS-LE-1 while you can with 3x2TB
I saw them when first browsing, great offers imo. Was looking to see if there was anything better than that, so I don't waste money.
Those offers seem to have run out
Hi,
thank you for mentioning but a little thing for clarification:
Storage server make actually mostly sense IF a customer wants to host MORE than 30 TB of extra storage.
If not, then a regular cloud server ( which allows up to 3x 10 TB extra disk in 1 TB steps ) makes usually much more sense because you can go in 1 TB steps but mainly because snapshot and backup comes with this product as included features.
Those features are completely missing with the storage server.
Snapshot is a very very useful feature for daily admin work and backup is actually a quiet very expansive feature as it will backup the whole server including all disks.
So there are virtually no use cases ( if any ) where a storage server is a better choice IF < 30 TB of space are needed.
Oh right, thank you for the clarification.
I still think your prices are rather competitive and I do believe @James404_ would have a good experience with your service
Update on this: (copied from layer7)
AMD Epyc Cloud Server VPS France PAR1
» CPU Cores: 6
» RAM: 8 GB
» NVMe Disk Space: 120 GB
» Disk size 2nd disk in TB: 1 TB
» Network connectivity in Mbit/s: up to 1000 Mbit/s
» Traffic per month included: 50 TB
» Operating system: Ubuntu 24 x64
Annually: 110,30 EUR
I'm going to order this VPS tomorrow if there's nothing else better, I saw the IONOS XL plus plan, but it was a bit over budget and 15eur/mo after 2 years.
Hey @James404_,
Our EPYC Configurator in the Netherlands could be a good fit:
Storage and RAM are fully adjustable in the configurator if you want to tweak things up or down. Monthly billing, no commitment.
Order: skri.me/epyc-config
Looking Glass: skrime.eu/network / AS215365
For non transcoding
https://my.hostbrr.com/order/main/packages/anniversary/?group_id=59
hostbrr Mini Epyc Anniversary with 5 TB block storage = $9.85
If you want to transcode:
You may go for a combination but will cost you a bit more ($15/month)
Berohost Ryzen 9950x 4v core 50 GB 8 GB RAM ($69/year or $6.90/month)+Layer7 5 TB for $8/month [previously it was $5/month). With single GB6 core average 2800; Berohost is a value for money [more powerful than turn 9275f in terms of transcoding]
I mount storage servers on my berohost server via rclone. Working absolutely fine. Rclone is not unstable but Rclone mount through google drive is.
Is there any plugin to do that? Like disable transcode completly, all i find is something like plugin to disable transcode to higher res like that
Why not transcode beforehand? For example transcode the 4k movie of 2 hours with bitrate around 2500 with res 1080p. You'll get around 3 GB file which will run perfectly even in 4g with no need to transcode by jellyfin unless on demand.
where to get this configuration?
If you transcode using AV1, preset 10, it will be very fast and pretty good quality even in software.
Why aren't there more VPS hosts which specifically advertise fast hardware transcoding? There are GPUs that have an unlimited number of encode slots (i.e. not Nvidia), and in theory, you could expose just the transcoding API to the guests without having to do GPU passthrough (which would require one GPU per VM, or an expensive or limited SR-IOV support).
Does virgl/virtio-gpu support features like VA-API? Some information about the current status: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/virgl-hardware-accelerated-h264-h265.137023/
Quality of CPU transcode supercede GPU transcode. So where quantity will matter, one might want to stick to CPU only.
Raise a ticket in Berohost asking for this config. They don't advertise this but if available, they allot it.
That's true, but if you're just streaming it live and not storing it, it's harmless to use hardware transcode and just bump the bitrate a little to compensate.
I've been using Hostbrr and Layer7 +- a month or so from each other and would recommend both; L7 offers 4c/8g/120g+1t and 50 TB traffic @ 1 Gb for €9,99.
If you want prio on storage Hostbrr has a few options with 2-3 TB and 1-2C/2G for less than $10, but I think L7 has the upper hand since you're not just gonna use it for dumb storage.
On the user settings (as in the user profile settings), there’s a few checkboxes to enable/disable transcoding for specific things, I just unchecked all of them.
Disk: Around 500gb minimum
The other specs (cores, ram, etc.) can be interpreted by you based on my situation. I'd say 8GB/4 vCPU cores, but I'm not too sure.
There are too many options to recommend anything specific. Good luck in your search
Maybe you should check netcup?
