Any SJC VPS?
Hello, im looking for a VPS in the San Francisco Bay Area (preferably San Jose / Santa Clara / Fremont)
Specs:
1c
1GB
10-20GB NVMe/SSD
1Gbps@1TiB BW (I'm fine with more BW)
$2.5/3.5/mo (i prefer hourly if possible, if not then i can pay for a month)
Usually this is going to be a sandbox VPS since i am going to use it to test latency, iperf3, traceroute and nginx and other stuff.
For providers, What is your LG or at least test IP so i can test it from my home network (Xfinity) Is the IP marked as Business or Hosting? I also want to know if you peer with the following ASN
AS7922 (Xfinity)
AS6939 (Hurricane Electric LLC)
AS701 (Verizon)
AS174 (Cogent Communications, LLC)
AS2914 (NTT America, Inc.)
AS6461 (Zayo Bandwidth)
Although, these are examples. I don't really care enough but HE.net is fine enough. I will be checking traceroute, i just like to see the smallest hop possible.
Thanks,
Fubuki

I know @VeloxMedia had something there
That is a low budget for the bay area. GreenCloud has "VDS" in San Jose but not for $3.. $10 for 8GB RAM or something, great deal unless you just want the cheapest low resource possible.
$10 for 8GB ram at Greencloud? i mean, i was looking at the JP one for $25/yr or so (on my other thread) but eh. I'm fine with a VPS or VDS. usually i would check for the lowest specs first then go up a bit
VeloxMedia was in HE Fremont 2, which, given it's cheap costs, should have plenty of providers. I think a lot of the big MJJ providers also have servers in SJC for low budgets (but I don't have any recommendations).
This VeloxMedia? https://veloxmedia.co.uk/
I'll prob pass. I can't even get into the website
Would definitely recommend staying away from VeloxMedia
yeah.. that ".uk" domain
Racknerd? @dustinc
I dont understand hate for veloxmedia

iirc, i check their $10/yr plan for SJC and it was OOS the last time i checked
The state of the vps market wants me to not buy a vps. What's the point. maybe i should keep using my existing vps since shit tends to be expensive nowadays
It s posible
Greencloud have budget plan sadly is 25$/y in SJ. Probably check their montly plans.
@Fubukibox did you try DigitalOcean? its $6/mth for the specs you want but its hourly so if you only use it for a bit it will be much cheaper. They have a San Francisco location.
I did use DO and Vultr years ago for the credits n such. I did try their SF loc but that was years ago. I do already have a vps with OCI in SJC. and im just looking for other vps atm
been checking between SJ and JP, same yearly price but diff specs

Upcloud looks interesting since it seems like they are giveing out $250 of free credits for 30 days.
GTHost and SmartHost has kinda the same ping 10-20ms, Smarthost IP does says it belongs to AS18779 EGIHosting, i guess it's a colo. Both GTHost and SmartHost. I'll check all 3

Yeah GTHost and Smarthost DC location is pretty much right next to each other. Looks to be 5 mins from each other in Santa Clara.
That is nice pricing at SmartHost, looking for a yearly dedpool deals sometime near future.
This is the last one they did.

Decided to use Upcloud and im using their 30d $250 credits trail. atm im on a 8c/16GB/200GB/1-2Gbps and im using it hourly. their SJC loc is decent. ping and speeds are good enough. currently running neko (docker) and just using brave. works fine under load
most ports are blocked. only 22, 80, 443, 3389, 123 and 33434-33534 are open. good thing i can use tailscale to bypass it. during the trail period
yeah, I was going to suggest racknerd too but I just checked and San Jose isn't listed (must be OOS as I have a server with them there). Maybe @dustinc has word when/if there will be a restock soon.
Interesting. Did not know that.
@Fubukibox looks like there's a restock at san jose with racknerd. At least when I just checked.
Doesn't look like it to me. Are you looking at the 1GB plan? i don't see a SJC location on my end
