VPS required to run netbird
Hi
I require a VPS to meet the minimum requirements of https://docs.netbird.io/selfhosted/selfhosted-quickstart, obviously more resources is fine ![]()
I don't expect unlimited bandwidth but would request a large amount of transfer as it will also be used to proxy traffic for a media server.
Ideally i'd prefer this to be UK based but anywhere with good connectivity and peering with Fibrus (https://fibrus.com/) would be suitable.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @alegeek
We could accomodate you at onidel.
Looking at netbird requirements linked, we can offer you:
- 1 vCPU (EPYC Milan)
- 2 GB RAM
- 20 GB NVMe
- 3 TB traffic @ 1 Gbps (should be fine for even media streaming)
- 1 IPv4 and /64 IPv6 subnet
- Amsterdam, NL location
$4.21/month with code
LET15or $47.52/yearThat's ONI-1 plan from our Premium VPS lineup. To order it, just register in our Cloud Panel.
Our Looking Glass shows 17 ms to an IP from Fibrus subnet in London. Feel free to test yourself
We also have a firewall integrated in our cloud panel in case you wanted to restrict access to just known IP addresses or subnets. By default, we don't block any incoming ports so shouldn't be a problem to run netbird.
In case of any questions feel free to DM me or @onidel here.
Using the IP provided by @oloke
Ping from OVH UK. They have unmetered bandwidth for cheap. OVH has peering with Fiberus.
You can also check @xHosts UK based and unmetered bandwidth.
Yeah, good recommendations. Somehow ping never gets below 10ms on the IP I tried (i found it as pingable IP on ipinfo), even from London. In our case, it gets from AMS to LON in around 7ms, then it takes another 10ms to be routed inside London.
Not sure how much traffic the OP actually needs. Initially I assumed the purpose is for media streaming to client, but if that's proxying entire media server (including downloads), 3TB could be a bit low. Also we are not an UK entity so your recommendations are probably better.
I don't need to proxy the downloads, it's simply to provide remote access to jellyfin and Plex to family members.
Hello,
I can do the below on AMD Ryzen 7950x, DDR5 ram, NVMe, 10Gbit port, 5x free backups in Coventry, UK. I could see pings of 12-13ms to fibrus.

Why not just install netbird on your jellyfin/plex server and then have your family members install netbird on their devices and then invite them to your network.
Some devices they use such as the Xbox for consuming media don't have clients for netbird.
In that case, they would need a router with built in Netbird support or use a gateway device (Raspberry PI or small PC running) on their local network and then tell the router to route all Netbird traffic to it.
oooooor use the built in proxy, which is similar to Pangolin, to make it easier. Don't have to tinker around too much everytime.
Personally I think that your first recommendation with OVH is already the best bet. Unlimited traffic and latency wise I think you won't get any better at a similar price point.
