4vps increases prices by 40%
Just received the following email from 4vps (AS215540 aka "GLOBAL CONNECTIVITY SOLUTIONS LLP"):
Ваш 4vps.su
Translation:
Friends, the time has come to discuss something we have long put off.
Much is changing around us: equipment prices, venue rentals, rising taxes, logistics, and communication channels. Particular attention must be paid to the cost of communication channels: in several locations, the costs for network infrastructure are 2 to 3 times higher compared to other regions where we operate. We held out for as long as we could.
Lately, literally everything has been changing—equipment, communication channels, rent, taxes, and logistics. We strove to absorb these changes so that you wouldn't even notice them. Five years—and not a single price increase. For us, this was a matter of principle: you focus on your work, and we do everything in our power to ensure you don't have to worry about the rest.
However, we simply cannot continue in this manner any longer if we wish to maintain the quality and stability you have come to expect.
Key changes:
• The average increase in service costs will be 40%.
• The updated rates have already been published on our website.
• For existing services (VPS), the new prices will take effect on April 10, 2026.We understand that this news is not exactly pleasant. That is why we are announcing it well in advance—openly and without any omissions. There will be no hidden fees and no "surprises" on your invoices.
You have been with us for many years, and we truly value that. We want you to know that, even when making decisions like this, we remain completely honest with you.
Thank you for being with us.
Sincerely, 4vps.su
Well that's annoying. I only have one VPS with them in Greece. I should have prepaid for longer.
How does this increase compare to the industry average?

Is this not yesterday ???
Email was actually received on 2026-04-09 11:38 but seems to have went to spam, so I only noticed it today. So... "well in advance" = one day notice, apparently.
Russians...
What about them? They're suffering from the same RAM shortages that we are (not to mention, most of 4vps' services are located in datacenters outside Russia anyway).
I have heard about poor Russian service.
Some are good, some are bad. It really depends on the provider.
Which are good?
I like justhost.ru by @antonpa. Their pricing is competitive and they have quite a few locations.
With that said, unlike 4vps, they do not allow Tor exits and, at least from what I've heard, are excessively strict when it comes to suspending over minor or invalid abuse reports. I've never had any issues with them, though.
I haven't used them in a long time (2021-2022), but I liked them back then.
Sanctions you know. War. Risky move to host in such country. Good luck.
Russian providers don't exclusively provide Russian VPSes. My 4vps service is in Greece, so it's not hosted in Russia and won't be subject to heavy Russian network censorship. Of course, the very reason I have a VPS in Greece with them is because, when I tried their VPS in Russia, it literally couldn't even access Google DNS or the Debian repositories due to network censorship.
Yea 4vps sells a lot of vpses outside of Russia like Germany, Switzerland, France, Albania because Russians are using them to host VPN to circumvent censorship.
For the price, it was actually pretty good if you stay away from the oversold locations. But now with the new pricing, it makes it a bit harder to justify the cost imo. It seems like 4vps is raising prices all vpses to make up for the cost of their recent reopening of Sweden, Austria and Denmark locations.
VPS can be outside ru, but company it-self - not. This is also the problem.
I've never run into issues with the company adding network-level censorship, since the typical problem is the RKN ordering telecom-level blocks, not the hosts themselves doing anything nasty.
Luckily, 4vps haven't been on the radar of RKN or Foreign countries issuing sanctions like some other RU providers YET.
Actually, I have a feeling that they're a branch of some sanctioned entity, although I don't particularly care as long as the service is affordable and solid. I might be wrong though.
The RKN has certainly taken to their RU upstreams, given they're so heavily censored they can't even access deb.debian.org. But they haven't been hit as hard as, say, Aeza which operates primarily (exclusively?) within Russia.
40% increase is too much!
yea.. 4vps upstream got hit with it. Aeza got a lot of gov law enforcement on their backs. The CEO and some employees got their office raided by Russian police for involvement in a criminal org and drug trafficking.
