WireGuard, Windscribe, and VeraCrypt Microsoft developer accounts frozen

Windscribe and WireGuard have Microsoft developer accounts frozen in surprise verification mix-up

Microsoft has suspended the developer accounts of three widely-used open-source security tools – Windscribe, WireGuard, and VeraCrypt – blocking them from signing and shipping Windows driver updates.

Developer of VeraCrypt encryption software says Windows users may face boot-up issues after Microsoft locked his account

The developer of the popular file encryption software VeraCrypt says Microsoft has blocked access to the account he used for sending updates to Windows users, and warned that anyone who encrypts their PCs with his software may soon face issues accessing their computers.

Word is, after some media attention, the issue has been resolved for WireGuard and Windscribe. No word, yet, on VeraCrypt, though Microsoft is finally in contact with him.

  • fck ms! i use 2 out of the 3 tools!

I find it absolutely mind-blowing that the creator of Wireguard has to talk online on forums and to media to get the attention of Microslop.

Wireguard is like the most profoundly useful tools for VPN's or so many things that it might as well be a billion dollar plus net positive tool for the world.

I hope that we all use linux etc. instead of microslop. Microslop is giving too much headache to people nowadays. People just want to use their computers and use software on that computer man.

These mega-corps are quite far on their path of enshittenification. I can't go a single day on internet where I don't hear yet another bad thing these absolute mega-corps are doing :-( I hope the world gets better and ditches these mega-corps and adopts linux etc.

Yeah, it's sad. I'm not using windows these days, thankfully.

Even so, windows users are a big part of those projects (probably the vast majority). If they can't support windows, anymore, would the projects still thrive as linux-only?

The reality is they all need to support Windows.

Guys, get ready for a bright future. Soon there will be no anonymous social media, VPNs and other things. Special services are now taking control of the entire Internet, social networks, and so on. The campaign has already started. A global trend.

Not sure how you missed it, but the Internet was founded by the United States military. It never was otherwise.

What does it matter. The Internet will be limited to access only to local resources, something like an intranet. Access from outside will be blocked or severely restricted. Over the next few years, this will be done in most countries of the world.

I got the impression the devs ignored the nags for two years and basically did this to themselves from neglect.

The VeraCrypt dev has regained access to his account now, too.
