Lol, it is not forced upon someone. If you need it you will find its use.

And you can compare the prices with any of the storage providers.

  • 50EUR for 5TB is expensive...oh gosh, people are spoilt

Asking 40$ for a server which have only 2 weeks.... Which otherwise is €50 in the whole year..... Is indeed expensive.

There should be a rule limiting of how much extra charge one can ask for a flash sale.

@labze these kind of flash sale transfers should be forbidden. People ask for ridiculous price trying to take advantage of the situation.

Once again, it is not forced upon you or anybody, if someone is willing to pay, they should proceed.

The deal is indeed too rare. If you can find the same offer from hostbrr easily, i wouldn't get multiple DMs for the deal in such a short span.

You are valuing the server at $40 for 2 weeks which translates in to $960 for the whole year where as the actual price is €50/year.

It is one thing to ask a bit more when deal is rare.... But you are asking almost 20 times the actual price. That's very greedy behavior on my honest opinion.

Full disclosure: I'm one of the folks willing to pay $40 for this.

That said - if your issue is the amount people are asking near the end of the billing term, perhaps a better idea would be to seek a rule change from LET that speaks to that? Seems a shame to ask for flash sale transfers to be prohibited entirely, as that just results in more good deals dying off as people no longer need them!

  • The price for 1st year would be €84 and €50 afterwards.

    Never near $960.

I'm getting ideas... $10 for almost one year of 5TB storage is indeed cheap...

I too think we need better rules to curb scalping.

This is actually very mild and if I didn’t have a storage setup already I would happily pay $40 - but the point raised by itachi does stand.

Now, there are folks selling $10 renewal kimsufi servers here for $100-300+, folks have no idea how big of an issue this is already.

If limits/ rules are imported to curb scalping, the whole LET will crumble under its weight in no time.

Now, no one wants that, right?

Technically OP is within the rules to charge upto 2x the price. Whether its fair or otherwise is until the prospective buyer

It is what it is. If someone needs it, they will take it. If LET mods feel it is unfair, then they can make a comment here and take appropriate action

Isn't this a bit low for an EPYC 9534?

    I strongly disagree.

For providers, there are limitations to offer for a reason. The whole identity of LET is hidden behind that rule.

It is time to import rules to curb scalping because more these kind of threads will come in, more it will create artificial inflation.... a weight which will burry LET along with it.

@angstrom The service transfer rule puts 2X the amount as the cap in offerings. This needs a bit of clarification such as in, It is just the offer price or valuation?

    For example, in this thread,

OP is asking for $40 for 19 days that are left (valuation: $770)
    actual price 50euro per year.

    • If we talk just about the amount disregarding for how many days, then this thread falls under the rule.

    • But if we talk about valuation, it is 15 times higher than original.

So that 2X cap denotes which case here?

Such an extrapolation of just a small deal which doesn't affect me at all if nobody buys it, I am happy to keep it with me.

Man, you better start a forum of your own. Let LET remain what it is. Even I have waited for months to grab any of such deals. If you don't value the patience and efforts of someone better live in your own world.

It's the original price of the service, which is a black or white matter

Valuation typically isn't a black or white matter

If everyone finds the price to be too high because of the few remaining days left, then no one will be willing to buy. In this respect, we rely on a free-market mechanism

    For example, in this thread,

OP is asking for $40 for 19 days that are left (valuation: $770)
    actual price 50euro per year.

@jbiloh needs to implement a protection against bots which grab rare offers and later become scalpers. This protection with captcha or something is needed not just for members, but for providers too, because providers are the ones paying for provider tag and get loaded with bots (scalpers later) at limited flash sales.

  • stxshstxsh Member

i see offers similar to this, and this is a pretty decent transfer imho.

i see folks offering 2x for a decent/limited offer.. but usually what they do is pay the renewal, and then offer it for 2x.. what OP did was save themselves the gamble and offer it beforehand at a similar price. not seeing what the issue is here.

  • @rohitsingh1333 Hello. What about after use of all 5TB/mo bandwidth assigned? VPS offline or just capped?

  • Server received. Thanks for a smooth transaction, with a side of entertainment! We can close this one out I think.
