[RESOLVED] What's up with Hostmayo? Are they gone?

edited April 6 in Outages

Anyone seen any notices regarding Hostmayo? I received a Hetrix notice that my web hosting with them in SLC was down three hours ago. When I went to their client panel link I see this.

Their SLC DA panel link redirects to defaultcontent.com
Any info would be appreciated.

The domain expired on 05/04 and wasn't automatically renewed, according to the Whois.

It's been renewed now, so they probably just have to change the nameservers back.

Reminds me of the time Microsoft forgot to renew their passport.com domain; which at the time was one of the keys to their empire.

I'd be sure very confident about a provider that lets its domain expire & uses protonmail instead of a proper corporate email πŸ‘

Getting a registered Ltd company and using a full name in their proton email...this guy seriously need to rethink "how to become deadpool while remainging anonymous" :p

I mean @zGato is somewhat right. Letting the domain expire is a big uff. I think that the email part is just something on top. I would expect my provider to have at least a business contract to use a custom email domain. Having the normal proton domain makes me think, that you don’t even pay for such a cheap service.

All of the deadpools have top-tier domain emails...this is not a metric to trust anymore.
I’ll stick with actual infrastructure β€” and yeah, [email protected] if you want to talk business.

But it very much is because if you dont give a flying shit about your domain name expiring, which is how people reach your brand to begin with and the first thing they see, what makes anyone think you care about anything else that has to do with your business. Are you retarded

  • zedzed Member

to be fair, at least you could still email him @proton with the domain expired.

I understand, formulating a short comment on a forum requires a lot of brain power.

Not to mention the effort required to enable auto-renew for a domain and making sure it doesn't expire, that's an insanely difficult task.

Maybe you should outsource the rest of your business to OpenClaw.

  • RubbenRubben Member

openclaw set my domain to renew automatically because im too retarded to do it myself i need ai

Genuine question but what is UP with these hosting providers using AI Openclaw whatever.

Are the providers within FOMO about AI too? For someone within tech/server business, I thought that these providers would know the best about the financial and real implication of AI.

Like can I go anywhere on the internet without seeing AI plastered now, smh.

if I would want AI in my life, I will go use them myself. Also, @HostMayo I hope you still respond humanly to the concerns within the post about domain-expiring.

No, just incompetent. The bar for being a hosting provider has lowered.
