How to delete disscus, i created vps
Not sure what that last sentence meant, but when I thought I could delete some five year old servers and quickly remake a new one, I ran into capacity issues.
I googled at the time and found people running the script for 3 months without success. I ran the script for a couple days but Oracle had limited the attempts and I gave up and went PAYG. Was able to make the same server two to three days later on first try.
"I can't upgrade PAYG because my account be bought"
You paid for a OCI account? dead end. next time make your own account for it
I think OP just brought the OCI account and can't upgrade to PAYG
Honestly, for me, it's understandable that he bought one since they're the one cloud platform I haven't been able to sign up for, no matter how hard I try.
I think OCI is usually strict on accounts like you need real PII + real bank (credit/debit cards) n such. i don't recall if they allow Privacy/maked vcc cards. I had mine since like 2021 or before 2020. i can't recall
They are extremely strict. I had all 100% real info and was never able to pass.
Maybe 10-20 attempts over 5 years. They are the only service ever that I have been unable to sign up to, at this point I've accepted that I simply can't use them.
I'm not sure if they restrict certain country's but i think there is like a risk score since im from the US (Northen Bay Area) the risk score is like 0-1 but for others, im not sure. I guess it's prob something on OCI side that is blocking from registering ig
Pay as you go is also OOS
OOS? wdym? You can't upgrade the account?
probably its Out Of Stock
mine also can't register no matter what i tried. my card got test charged (usual cc charge and cancel) but after that always "We can't register you blah blah blah"
Maybe it has to do with Oracle laying off 20k to 30k employees
Yet if you check Gray market in Asia, there is people selling thousand of thousand Oracle Account, they printing them
Must be insider
You can pay for nonfree
PAYG is upgraded
I understand the pain. I could not verify even after providing everything real. I gave up.
No, i bought Free Tier account, and i created A1 vps 4-24 with a trick i saw in internet
I have been trying in Singapore since a week, no success
https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/31/oracle-layoffs-ai-spending.html
Oracle just laid off like 20% of it's entire workforce. 30,000+ employees.
Should have paid for an Oracle VPS. Now families are going hungry.
Buy high sell low
I even had to terminate a VPS because I got locked out of SSH (Cloudflare WARP blocked port 22). I ended up creating a new one even though my account hasn't been upgraded to PAYG yet—I used a little trick to bypass that!
on a free tier, you get ONE 4c/24GB/200GB Storage (or 150GB) space. not two. also for ssh, just whitelist your IP or just use tailscale with DNS turned off. are you paying for the second one? you can't have 2 ARM vps. you only can make 2x AMD 1c/1g/100GB storage hence 200GB is only free for life anything above that you pay with your own money.
No, you can create up to 4 VPSs (limited by the storage, you have 200GB but each VPS needs minimum 47GB). Of those 4, up to two can be the AMD ones (with fixed specs), and the rest (however you shape them) are ARM (with variable specs, up to 4c/24GB).
"Or, you could provision four OCI Ampere A1 Compute instances with 1 OCPU each, and zero instances using the VM.Standard.E2.1.Micro shape. Many combinations are possible, depending on how you allocate your block storage and OCI Ampere A1 Compute OCPUs." (https://docs.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/Content/FreeTier/freetier_topic-Always_Free_Resources.htm#compute)
EDIT: and the AMD shapes can have down to 47GB storage, I run one with 1c/1g/47GB for a low-perf service.
It's possible to split a 4-24 VPS into four 1-6 VPS instances. Since I terminated the original A1 4-24 VPS before creating the new ones, I believe it should still stay within the Free Tier. My new instances have been running for half a day, and I checked the billing—the 'Amount used' is still $0, so I think my assumption was correct
i was talking about 1 4c/24GB for 1 ARM vps, but not 4x 1c/6GB. 200GB of storage is the limit for the free tier. i don't recall having 400GiB (200GB) for each vps since OCI did show that if i went over 200GiB, i have to pay for the extra space
I'm not too sure about that. usually storage is capped to 50GB for AMD vps. but if storage is under 50GB, that would be intresting
I didn't create an E2 AMD VPS; I only have an A1 (4-24) with a 150GB boot volume
Which was?
