VDS in Chicago with high single-core CPU (7950X/9950X or equivalent) for game server hosting?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a VDS (not a shared VPS) located specifically in Chicago, IL. Location is non-negotiable for me due to central US routing.
Here's what I need:
- Location: Chicago, IL (must-have)
- CPU: High single-core performance -- ideally something like a Ryzen 9 7950X, 9950X, or any modern chip with strong single-thread scores (Cinebench R23 ST 2000+ preferred)
- Use case: Game server hosting, so low latency and good peering/routing matter a lot
- VDS specifically -- I want dedicated cores, not shared vCPUs
I'm not super price-sensitive as long as the specs justify the cost. Bonus points if you have experience with their game server routing specifically (Midwest/East Coast players connecting in).
Any providers you'd recommend? Happy to hear from hosts directly too. Thanks!

Jawed, we recommend @DediRock for the US. Great pricing and performance. Not sure if they have Ryzens but they're well worth a shot as they may have something better!

We have AMD Ryzen 9950X and 7950X available in Chicago. However, even with a higher allocation (VPS not getting suspended due to cpu abuse), the CPU cores will still be shared since other client VPS instances are hosted on the same node.

All the hosts that were recommended either do not have VDS plans or seem sketchy. I am still on the lookout, thanks! Bump.
What's your budget really? Realistically Chicago has less established options than other regional locations. And if you want a real VDS (not a "marketing" VDS) then you'll be paying $12-15 minimum per CPU core if you want dedicated cores probably, if there's even any options.
110 USD/monthly. I was looking at CherryServers and they look decent. But if I can get something better from here I'd love that. It doesn't have to be a VDS, but it has to be good enough/stable for game server hosting.
