Dynadot new .com domain name registrations pushed through OpenProvider
Something seems fishy with new .com domain registrations through Dynadot. Are they now using Openprovider.com for .com domains? Also, based on the WHOIS information for registered domain name, it looks like it's not registered in your name, but instead owned by “Dynadot, LLC.”
This is not a an April 1st joke..

Y OpenProvider being a problem here?
double check your whois privacy setting, and whether they're enabled by default or not
Doesn't look like it.
Just registered a .com to test.
That's likely due to whois/domain privacy.
I registered multiple domains [.com] yesterday using dynadot gui and all were registered through
Domain Name: XX .COM
Registry Domain ID: XX _DOMAIN_COM-VRSN

They probably had registrar downtime and didn’t want to lose sales. Reach out to support, they’ve been friendly in all my experiences.
better contact dynadot. they might be using openprovider as registrar on record for users in some countries. may be.
Maybe you used promo codes? https://www.dynadot.com/help/question/com-registration-promotion
Basically non promo, full price reg will reg with dyna directly but reg with promo codes are reg via openprovider and managed via dyna panel.
yes, I used the promo code.... that explains it... thanks
Anyway, is that an excerp from openprovider managed domain whois? Seems like they don't do proper whois privacy but only showed redaction directly from registry, with country and region aren't redacted and still leaked registrant location. Another one registrar/reseller I'd be avoiding. Its similar to cloudflare registrar, still leaking country and region for .com
In this case, the domains with OpenProvider/Registrar.eu will use Dynadot's whois/domain privacy details, so the "Registrant Country" should be US.
And yes, for domains registered with CF, most registrant details are redacted, except for "Registrant State/Province" and "Registrant Country".
You bought a domain just to test?
Yes
Have some funds there from selling names on their marketplace.
And if its not bought with the promo code then in theory you can even request for deletion and get (partial?) refund, i think. Dyna called it Grace Deletion, mentioned in that earlier link i posted. I believe its within the epp code addPeriod. Icann documented it at https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/epp-status-codes-2014-06-16-en
Not many registrar allow that, cool for dyna to still does it.
Oh, yes, domain tasting.
Did some many years ago.
Thanks for reminding me
