Looking for a cheap VPS with Port 25 open (DDoS protection preferred)

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for an inexpensive/budget VPS with Port 25 open (unblocked), preferably with DDoS protection included.

I plan to set up a small mail server purely to send out registration verification codes for my project (strictly transactional, absolutely no spam or abuse!).

Do any of you have any good recommendations or providers you trust? Thanks for sharing!

(P.S. If my wording is weird, blame the translator!)

    I really suggest MXRoute or AmazonSES for this purpose, instead of using a VPS.

    You make a great point—if it were only about sending verification codes, SES or MXRoute would definitely be the smarter choice.
    I should probably clarify my original post: while the verification codes are the main reason I need this right now, since I'm getting a VPS anyway, I really want to use it as an opportunity to set up a full mail server (incoming/outgoing) and experiment with encrypted emails (via public key exchange).
    I actually tried hosting one before on Netcup's VPS piko G11s 12M (~€12/yr), but 1GB of RAM was way too small and it lagged terribly. So I'm looking for something with a bit more RAM this time!

    If you're offloading the piko G11s after you find your new setup, I'd be more than happy to buy it from you. I'm looking for a box to practice mail server configs and would be very thankful for the opportunity. Good luck with the new server search!

    Maybe @aluy or @MikeA can help!! I have seen them opening port 25 in other threads. Also I think @webhorizon does not block any ports!

    I should probably clarify my original post: while the verification codes are the main reason I need this right now, since I'm getting a VPS anyway, I really want to use it as an opportunity to set up a full mail server (incoming/outgoing) and experiment with encrypted emails (via public key exchange).
    I actually tried hosting one before on Netcup's VPS piko G11s 12M (~€12/yr), but 1GB of RAM was way too small and it lagged terribly. So I'm looking for something with a bit more RAM this time!

    Why not host your mail server to receive, and have one SMTP gateway service to do the sending?
    Like Sendgrid, MailGun, amazon SES? Mxroute is planning on a service like that as well.

    I have MailGun for my services and the free tier works great for me. Not my main email, that one is CraneMail.

    That is actually a brilliant idea. It seed a perfect balance between tinkering and reliability, which also means I won't have to stress too much about the IP reputation of the new VPS. Thanks for the insight!

    Netcup's vps feature is 0.84 euros per month, meet your requirements, but the price is currently rising, about 0.99 euros per month, can be purchased second-hand. Configuration is 1H1G30G hard disk. Very good price, compare recommended.
