BaboonHosting deleted their thread after I called them out?

Also as far as I can tell from BaboonHosting’s previous threads, the YABS reports that were posted there by people who bought a VPS from them always mentioned the same CPU, RAM amount and location. And their status page (accessible from the website by scrolling to the bottom of the front page and clicking on “Server Status”) lists only one dedicated server + their WHMCS portal.

So I’m wondering if the whole operation is running on the back of just one dedi.

From their looking glass, it seems that they are using https://www.worldstream.com/ but we can't even be certain if they do colocation or dedicated servers

In all regards, I feel like given their history. It feels as if the creator of baboonhosting has a history of bankruptcy and making multiple accounts and it feels like they are doing it very intentionally.

A chance of deadpool feels quite likely in the near future which will inevitably just scam/screw the customers. Yikes.

  • You have to be a baboon to use such hosting. I called them early on, using AI everywhere is already a bad sign enough.

  • Looks like their network is also down. I bought one of the 2c4g IPv6 servers for 10EUR/yr yesterday evening and it's no longer accessible.

Their control panel is still up so I got into the server using VNC, but outbound ping attempts fail with "Network not reachable".

I've opened a ticket and if they respond I'll share more details here, but fortunately I paid with PayPal so it should be a low drama refund if they have imploded.

Well this just got more interesting, I googled one of the trade names ("Cloud of Gamers") and stumbled upon the bankruptcy documents for a company called "Pepperfield B.V." (went bankrupt 2023)

    It traded under the names:

Action Hosting, Bratpack, Cayenne, Cloud of Gamers, Expertisecentrum Hosting, Fakkeldrager, FixitNow, Gurukala, Hostingdreams, Independent Hosters, Metahosting, Nederlandse, Hosting Maatschappij, Pepperfield Ventures, Peppergreen, School of Mind, WebhostNow

And the owner's name also matches

Once again... Proof that it's a little too easy to get a tag to offer. Honestly a lot more research clearly needs to be done...

Unfortunately I don't see it changing anytime soon.

It's clearly much easier for Jbeebs to rake in the $200 patron provider tag while doing minimal background checks himself and then relying on both the community to do the research after the fact and the unpaid mods to clean up the mess afterwards

    Hello,

My name is Maarten, owner of Straeder, the company behind Baboonhosting. I would like to formally clarify the current situation regarding our company registration and operations.

It is correct that, at this moment, there is no active Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number linked to the new structure. I understand that this may raise questions, so I want to explain this clearly and transparently.

Our previous structure has been ended as part of a wider business reorganisation. At the same time, the registration of the new structure has already been started and is currently in progress with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. This creates a temporary transitional phase between the end of the old registration and the formal completion of the new one. To be clear: this is not a case of avoiding registration or operating in bad faith. The business transition is actively being formalised. The reason there is temporarily no active KVK number for the new structure is that the old structure has already been closed, while the new legal and administrative setup is still being completed.

The underlying business activities continue, and the relevant operations and contracts are being continued under the new structure. In other words, this is an administrative and legal transition, not an interruption of the business itself.

The registration process is already scheduled and in its final stage. The new registration will be formally completed and the new KVK number will be active within a few weeks.

The main reason for this restructuring is strategic. We are moving away from a fragmented setup with several older labels and are consolidating into a more professional and future-oriented infrastructure organisation. As part of that process, we have deliberately phased out a number of legacy brands.

In recent months, we have installed new enterprise hardware in our Dutch datacentre environment at Worldstream. We have also deployed a new Ceph cluster as the foundation for a more modern and resilient storage platform. This replaces older storage structures and allows us to operate with better redundancy, better scalability.

It is important to emphasise that Baboonhosting continues to operate normally during this transition. Services remain active, customers remain supported, and this restructuring does not mean the business has disappeared or is operating informally. It means that the old structure has been retired and the new structure is now being completed.

If needed, I am fully willing to provide additional information regarding the ongoing registration process, the infrastructure changes, or the direction of the new organisation.

This is a temporary transition, it is already in progress, and it will be formally completed within a few weeks.

    Kind regards,
    Maarten Strootman

Who dissolves everything before finishing the transition? Especially when you continue doing business under the dissolved entity... and how do you explain the "transitional phase" taking so long? (entity was dissolved in October 2025, convenient how it's now "a few weeks" away)

And how do you explain that message you posted in your thread about looking into the dissolved status? What was there to look into?

@BaboonHosting said: It is important to emphasise that Baboonhosting continues to operate normally during this transition. Services remain active, customers remain supported

It can't operate normally, you can't have contracts with an entity that doesn't exist anymore...?

@BaboonHosting said: this restructuring does not mean the business has disappeared or is operating informally

That is quite literally what is happening...

And your track record makes all this even worse.

  • Seems like VeloxMedia all over again..... Do you guys think of these "transitions" and existing contracts are a joke or what?

  • lol. I’m glad I didn’t buy another baboon

This IS veloxmedia all over again.

I recommend all customers to do chargeback as I (and many) said in the veloxmedia thread long long before its eventual deadpool

But this feels very close to a deadpool indeed.

Your previous "structure" was an "eenmanszaak", a one-man-company. No need to speak of "we", "our", etc.

Also this statement doesn't make sense to be honest. It's like "I'm gonna rename my company, so I've dropped my domainname while the new one isn't active yet".

This creates a temporary transitional phase between the end of the old registration and the formal completion of the new one. To be clear: this is not a case of avoiding registration or operating in bad faith.

Nah, I think it's more a case of bad organisation; in all the changes with KvK I've been involved in, even from Eenmanszaak to things like a BV or NV, I've never experienced such a gap with KvK registration. Also itt's not a logical thing, because you need things like taxnumbers for your company.

If needed, I am fully willing to provide additional information regarding the ongoing registration process, the infrastructure changes, or the direction of the new organisation.

Yes, question here. How much of this answer was written with AI? It's sure quite a long reaction just saying "Yes, I'm aware, but working on it. [Insert one line of explanation here]"

It's actually really wild how all of this could've been/would've been swept under the rug if @miniopt wouldn't have checked the company (a company which effectively now feels to be a deadpool/deadpool in the making, heck its not even a company anymore)

Thanks @miniopt for your due diligence and a reminder for myself/others to check company's status before buying. (I didn't buy anything from them but I feel sad for the people who bought into such deadpool and I feel lucky that I didnt buy anything from them)

Thanks for all the attention guys. Really appreciated. About dedi or colo, we do colo with our own hardware. We have a clean IP range.

I know you are upset about us not having a registration number. My sincere apologies. We are working on solving the issues ASAP.

But I kindly ask you to stick to the issue at hand: no CoC registration number. Trust yourself and do not believe everything Google tells you.

If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them personally.

for what its worth my VPS works without any issues. and they have doubled the bandwidth too. (and looks like it counts inbound as well)

that being said, I am not happy with the way they handled the things.

Glad I could be of service.

I’ve been looking for small VPS from registered EU companies for the sake of them having to comply with GDPR as well as their own country’s privacy and company / financial laws to make sure that:

    1) there is a legal requirement that my data, i.e. both my personal info and what’s on my server(s), remains private (at least to some extent, I’m not delusional lol)

    2) the provider can be held accountable in the case of a breach, especially if they were negligent about securing their customers’ data, or if they deadpool and go resell their personal info without their consent to make a quick buck.

So any offer without an active and valid company registration in the EU is a hard pass for me, and since only takes a couple of clicks nowadays to check a registration and a EU VAT ID whereas it would often be a hurdle in the past, I always do it.
