In Chinese, the word for “machine/server” (机, jī) sounds the same as “chicken” (鸡, jī). Because of that, people in Chinese communities started using it as a joke—calling the physical host machine the “mother chicken” and VPS instances “little chickens.” It’s just a wordplay meme based on the pronunciation.
