ColoCrossing Fixed My Hardware Issue Fast – Really Impressed

ColoCrossing – Really impressed with how fast they handled a hardware issue

Just wanted to share a quick experience.

I had a dedicated server that started rebooting randomly with no logs at all no kernel panic, no shutdown logs, nothing in IPMI. It was a pretty confusing situation to get errors from the OS side.

I submitted a ticket to ColoCrossing and their team got back to me promptly. They got the issue and, after some hardware testing pin pointed the problem to the CPU socket.

What impressed me most

Very Fast response time!

No unnecessary arguments

Proper hardware testing

Quick migration to a replacement server (IP + drive + service moved)

The issue was resolved quickly, and everything has been stable since.

Overall, really good support experience 👍

It is refreshing to see something positive and something positive about colonus.

Colocrossing was never actually a bad company imo. Just everyone that sold VPS with them for $2/y on LET then scammed dozens of people made them look horrible.

  • their support is honestly excellent, some of the best I've ever experienced. Makes me feel bad opening tickets for all my cheap dedis since that sort of support can't be cheap to provide.

You rent a server, and then it breaks down—isn’t replacing the hardware just standard after-sales service?

The way you put it makes me feel like I’m being given a handout.

Of course it is, but he posted about the speed of the resolution.

Completion within a few hours is considered normal. The processing speed also depends on the workload of the data center staff.
I previously had a KS-LE-B server from OVH priced at €9.90, which came with 48GB of RAM (the standard is 32GB). After running for a while, it crashed for no apparent reason around 2:00 AM. By the time I noticed, the hardware had already been replaced, and the server now had 64GB of RAM. The total downtime was less than 90 minutes.
The fault report stated that a set of memory modules had failed and had been replaced.

Of course OVH is an absolutely amazing provider too but I think that in this case, colocrossing should be appreciated too :-)

Well that, and getting breached pretty badly.

But they aren't a bad company, I agree. I have two products from them and, despite being dirt cheap, they perform surprisingly well and I am happy with them. Routing is kinda shit, though, but for under a buck a month I'm not upset.
