Any credit cardless VPS out there that is respectable (not free) ?

I have clean site that moves about 150mb a month. Its practically dead and used by old timers
like me but I can't sign up to any popular service due to not having a credit card. I'm dovicrced and self employed so Canadian banks consider me a dog.

If anyone has a suggestions please let me know. I have checks, money orders, cash, crypto in my exchange.

I'm not looking to signup to third party apps, wallets, services, take pictures of myself and other nonsense. Looking for something semi reliable for a small business with the ability to install postfix and send/rec emails. Not spam (under 50 emails a month)

I'm making this request because...

I signed up to one site that takes ETH, upon siging up they told me to use a credit card to verify myself to use ETH. Rather dirty, asking for a credit card to take crypto.

I signed up to another site, they didn't need a card but their crypto platform offered no way to send crypto directly and only hook up to some coincrap platform with their approved wallet.

Finally I found some guy here who's name I won't mention and he takes crypto directly but then he tells me I can't send mail at all through his service.

I realize porn and mass mailing is a problem in your business but I'm not involved with either. I just need postfix to make a custom mailer, responder. Without this there are already 100 free hosts out there I can use.

I was looking to prepay for 1 year and forget it.

Feel free to spam me if you know somthing.

What price range and VPS spec are you looking for? I take crypto, check, money orders and cash but USD only.

If something is suitable send me a message with your price requirements. Port 25 is blocked but can be unblocked by request with the domain you plan to use.

Or web hosting starts at $1.99/mo ($24~/y)

Checkout NameCrane.com, those guys are awesome. They at least during check support Cryptocurrency, shoot them a ticket and double check, they have a killer $8/year plan that sounds like it would fit your needs.

    Thanks,

    Hey Frank_tech,

We accept crypto - no credit card needed.

For a small site with postfix, our XEON 1G would do the job:

    • 1 Core (Xeon E5-2697 v4)
    • 1 GB RAM
    • 10 GB NVMe
    • Unlimited traffic, 10 Gbps shared port
    • IPv4 + IPv6 /64
    • 1.49€/mo

Mail ports are blocked by default but we open them via support ticket - no hassle. Annual prepay works fine too.

If you don't need a full VPS, we also have webspaces with 15 GB storage starting at 0.99€/mo.

    Both at skrime.eu.

  • @MannDude @servers_guru @tentor not sure what their exact policies on port 25 are, but I've experienced and/or heard good things about them. I'm sure one of them could work out a solution with you.

    Thanks for mention!

Outgoing 25/tcp is blocked by default but unblocked upon request. Inbound is not filtered.

However, to prevent abuse, port is opened only after 20 EUR are prepaid (for example, plan is renewed for 1 year to spend 20 EUR per unblocked IPv4).

No KYC required, sign up using Tor is possible. Only valid non-tempmail email is needed.

  • Thanks for everyone's nice replies. It look liks there are still some old school options out there. Maybe this can be a thread for people who still take Check/MO/Direct crypto/Cash. It's not like I can't figure all this out, I just don't want to deal with another third party that has a 12 pages of terms and conditions and wants me to download another wallet or signup to a service. I've had 1 domain for 12 years and the others for 3-4 years so my identity is more than established and non problematic. I'm in the trades, not porn or spam or marketing.

My site is small and moves nothing but I'm in the process of adding features that will need some user to user contact so that is why email is required and I need email to php and that's why I want a VPS instead of web hosting or free hosting. I already had an unrestriceted VPS a couple of years ago and I kept it very secure and tignt. I basically have 1 small site and 3 in the works in various stages so I can use 1 or 2 services but by this time next year 3-4 with the expectation that one or two will grow. I have 3 domains and I don't want to park the on the same IP so either 2 services or 1 with 2 IPS' is important.

This is an addition to my local business so its never going away. I will host it until I retire or die and that is why I'm not looking for a free service or a very small guy. I do want a small business or reseller type guy but I don't want to move again in 2yrs so someone responsible at least.

And since I only service my local area, US east or CAN east is preferred. I guess I can work with west if the terms and deal is good.

  • conceptconcept Member

@MikeA is definitely your guy for US east. He does not do KYC and can do crypto or USD cash.

Thanks for the mention. We don't need card at all. And we accept crypto and don't do any kyc for crypto. Outgoing smtp port are blocked by default but might be unblocked on request.

We will ask for information about the smtp usage and take decision on a case by case basis.

Sounds like you could host this on TierHive ? Let me know a little more about the site in a PM, we can probably just do it for free, sounds like you need a bit of a break.

You mentioned Canadian and checks, so I assume overall you’re not looking to hide your identity. If you have a debit card, many of them double as a virtual Visa these days, so a provider who only does credit card could still work. I suppose if it's a Canadian host, they might also accept e-transfer. It’s just a thought, as maybe those two options might allow you a greater selection of options than you realize.

  • I'm sure I would have noticed if my bank card had a VISA logo.

Have you seen Canadian providers ? They're a joke, I'm sure you guys in the business know of some good ones but the ones the average user would find through google are just the worst US companies with a Canadian presence and the others want $19.99/m for web hosting.

My site is 50kb, I can't justify $200+ yr.. I could almost get a 2nd ISP and host it from home. When I started playing with websites 20 years ago the US prices were already down to $9/m while Canadian companies wanted $99.99/m ... It all about opportunity, most Canadians are too stupid to figure things out and go for it.

Why are you looking for a VPS in your original post? If you have a 50kb site.. use something like CloudFlare pages (even Github maybe?) to host it if it's static pages. Otherwise there's tons of nearly free options for web hosting out there that have email included (nearly all web hosting companies). If you're looking for for a cheap VPS, it's going to be hardware since most of the super cheap VPS hosts generally are less crypto friendly or do fraud checks since cheap VPS bring more abuse.

My offer sounds pretty good considering your needs at $24 USD/year, with crypto and no identity verification.

Or if you're looking for a Canadian company specifically better to specify.

  • Because I'm building ... My needs are low now but I'm adding functionality to accept comments and need to send email so I wanted to get established with someone that can add resources as needed and of course accept email with customizations. That's why I don't want to jump into a $10/yr plan or use a free host. I also didn't want to just sign up with someone and find out the negatives later, like I did with kamatera a few years ago, they told me to send them my license or passport.

    Hey,

I feel your pain regarding the credit card/KYC struggle.

    Check us out at Private-Hosting.eu.
We accept crypto payments directly from your wallet and we don't block SMTP ports (Port 25/465/587 is open IN/OUT), so you’ll have no issues setting up Postfix for your mailer/responder.

We currently have a 30% discount across all VPS plans. It sounds like exactly what you're looking for if you want to prepay and just let it run.

  • Thanks to everyone. I found many new hosts that I would not have found through google and many of you emailed me with free offers. I appreciate eveyone's help, at the same time a family elder landed in the hospital so I'm taking a little break.

Interestingly I did find one Canadian host in B.C of all places that was competitive but I didn't bookmark them at the time and my head is spinning with host so I can't remember. I think they were in Surrey or Vancouver with a blue screen.

Have to say NO to Europe.. sorry I'm running a small a business that only caters to my area so thats' too far. Someone here sent me to one and it was cute but I don't speak European.. I want my host to say Products, not Produkte.. ;;)

I'm not anon and don't need to be but not sending my ID across the globe either, I wouldn't even send my picture to a Canadian company. I think these companies need to rework their business model if they have a problem with fraud.

Hopefully you find something in Canada. If not, if/whenever you're up for it, I have some slow servers in Spokane. Can send Monero, Bitcoin, or Bitcoin Cash. Or if you want to mail cash or a check (though international mail is tough these days,) that's also work.

My smallest server is $4.50/month and that's IPv6 only, but I have SNIProxy and other means for IPv4 users to reach your site. Debian or OpenBSD. I'm sure there's cheaper options, maybe even something like Neocities? And Tierhive would probably work as well, for a lot less.

You did mention email... which can be done with IPv6 only, but is tricky. I am hoping to be able to offer IPv4 soon, which would probably be another $1.50 more.

  • Hello @HostBilby has a few offerings in Canada and at nice prices [he might even offer a good plan if you can dm him 😉]. I don't know about their port 25 policy though, so you would have to ask them for that.

@DataWagon been around for 10+ years, accepts crypto with a good gateway (no KYC), and have been very easy to deal with. Perhaps just put a ticket in asking about mail ports. The Buffalo PoP should work for US/Canada East quite well.

  • There are quite a few providers on LET that accept crypto or alternative payments if you don’t want to use a credit card.
In my experience, smaller hosts tend to be more flexible with payment methods compared to larger providers. The key is to check their reputation and uptime rather than just price.

Thanks for the mention mate! We can allow SMTP for specific approved circumstances after review - happy to take local alternate forms of payment as well. We're a Canadian Incorporation so need to charge HST for Ontario based customers.

We have debit, it isn't the best system and not everyone online takes it but as I mentioned before the ISP choices in Canada are rather weak. You guys in the VPS business can confirm this for me. I'm sure there are a few that are close to US pricing but they're nearly impossible to find.

Everyone has credit cards as well except for sole prop self employed. And it has nothing to do with your credit worthiness, it's a bankster rule as we don't pay as much into the system. Credit is 10x stingier on self employed because they don't get to take our money off the top and we choose how much to pay by way of write offs, lying, delaying etc.. Things ligthen up if you make a lot of money, married or own a paid house.
