Meta unveiled as secretly behind the push for OS-level Age Verification
It turns out the recent pushes to shove age verification in everything were not organic. A new research project has discovered that Meta has financed lobbying pushes to the tune of $26.3 million. This includes direct lobbying to federal/state governments & astroturfing efforts via a new entity "DCA".

Never beating the allegations. It's the big tech skirting away their responsibility. It's never about protecting the kids.

Hopefully revelations like this will increase the push-back against this age verification bullshit.
At the beginning, a lot of people were for it, but I've noticed that as people are starting to talk about it, sentiment is becoming negative. That needs to continue until these bullshit laws get overturned or ruled unconstitutional.
yea they are just trying to push the responsibilities off of them and on to others.
I'm so surprised and shocked. Shocked, I tell you!
i wonder how much more ad revenue there is in guaranteed actual human views sorted by age index..
Right, so, did meta break any laws by doing this and if not, are the states doing the right moral thing and cancelling everything and starting the study fresh while making meta pay for it? Or at the very least... Putting laws in place to prevent that?
