Malaysia ISP VPS - Test Result (Need opinion)
Hi everyone,
I’m testing a Malaysia-based ISP VPS and wanted to share the results to see if this performance is considered good.
OS: Debian
Network: ISP IP
Network Result:
Ping: 28.8 ms
Packet Loss: 0%
Download: 29.72 Mbps
Upload: 35.55 Mbps
Speedtest Result:
Download: 29.72 Mbps
Upload: 25.55 Mbps
CPU Benchmark:
Events/sec: 1908
Execution time/sec: 9.99
For people who have experience with Malaysia VPS or ISP network servers, do these results look normal or good? Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you want us to be able to get anything from the benchmark information you're giving, do a YABS:

@forest Hi, I have ran the YABS. Can you give me some opinion of the performance?
That's not the whole thing, it's missing the CPU benchmark. You could just copy-paste it here.
And there's no need to censor your uptime or kernel version, btw.
So far what I see is mediocre performance. Disk speed is not particularly good but not downright horrible. Network speed is not good. But without knowing the price, there's no way to know if you got a great deal or got ripped off.
The price is $198 for 1 year
Not, @forest but
How much do you pay?
Edit:
Bad. You could get GCP, AWS with that pricing .. Unless you need 1-2ms ping throughout penang (mobile client has 10-20ms penalty afterall)
Unless there's something really amazing about that VPS, it's definitely not worth $198/y. The only thing it has going for it is that at least it has 8 GB RAM. But the processor is crap, the network is crap, and the disk speed, while not horrible, is certainly not great either. And it only has 60 GB storage. I wouldn't buy that VPS even if the price was cut in half.
Not saying you got scammed, but in the low-end world, you could have done a lot better for that price.
thanks for your opinion, it's useful for me
What is the purpose of your VPS? I know there are some hosts here who could offer a VPS in Malaysia for a better price.
For streaming purpose
Sooka?
with that speedtest result, where is the destination of that speedtest?
For comparison
https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/16819450 <-2199mhz
https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/16859260 <-2599mhz
disk speed is low, connection seems capped at 50 mbps, old e3 cpu
better look for atleast 100mbps for better latency and smooth streams.
A common approach is to provide the target location for your network tests as performance varies significantly depending on where you're testing from. The CPU benchmark you provided is quite vague and difficult to compare against other systems directly. Standardized scripts help immensely for meaningful comparison.
198$ for a year is bit too much for this vps! By ISP VPS do you mean a VPS with resedential IP or just you are referring to a VPS company with presence in MY?
You could get a good VPS with that price and get Residental Proxies
Its very poor... My vm:
Granted, its $24/m.
@advinservers has a location in Johor, MY for half of that with 2 TB/month bandwidth. While I don't have their Malaysian VPS, I do have their US VPS and I have to say they're one of, if not the, most solid and performant VPS I've come across. They are currently out of stock in MY, but you can get notified for when they have more inventory. If you're fine with just 2 TB/month, I'd highly recommend them.
8GB RAM VPS from : https://malaysiavps.com/
($14/month with 50% discount)
wish has bigger storage.
is this pure ip malaysia or it back to sg?
You can upgrade storage.
IP shows like this : https://s1.image4share.com/NGBKbE.png
IP does not belong to APNIC or Malaysia Origin.
I have used Limestone before, they are a cheaper Data Center ISP, but their IPs are often blacklisted by streaming platforms.
Not the best value in terms of performance but if the matter for you is to have an isp ip, it’s good
Old hardware
Did you received this offer directly from time Malaysia or is it a reseller ?
Reseller, but now I'm consider about the campany called Blend Hosting, their ISP Dedicated have 30% off. I have ask them, their provider is TIME Malaysia.
