No. He has a less sexy offer on Reddit at the moment.
Is it in my honor again? 🥺
No!
I'm a psycho failure.
Can you aim for a $5/yr VPS offer next time?
Even better. I'm going to start pissing off some dedi providers!
I’m not trying to defend anyone here. Just sharing how I see it.
Jar has always been strict when it comes to spam and IP reputation. That’s part of how he runs MXroute. From his point of view, a Trustpilot review — or really any public platform — can directly impact a company’s reputation. So if he believes a review is inaccurate, he likely sees it as something harmful that needs to be addressed quickly.
The ToS has always been public before ordering, and he does enforce it strictly, especially around abuse. Whether people agree with it or not, that approach has been consistent. At the end of the day, it’s a two-way choice. Users decide if they’re comfortable with those rules before signing up.
At the same time, when a customer is terminated, leaving a review on a public platform is also their right. That part is unavoidable. And that’s where the paradox comes in. A provider wants to protect its reputation, but customers are free to speak publicly about their experience — even if the provider disagrees with their version of events.
Personally, I think regardless of who is right or wrong, things would probably calm down faster if the response was more measured. But Jar has never really been the “soft response” type. His style tends to be direct and sometimes confrontational, and that’s part of what people see.
That said, my view of his style is just based on what I’ve observed over the years from his replies on LET and some ticket interactions. It’s a personal impression, not an objective judgment, and I’m sure others may see it differently.
So to me, this is less about pricing or policy, and more about temperament and expectations. Some people are fine with that style. Others aren’t.
And regardless of the drama — salute to the $5 deal.
Since this offer has run its course, spirits got agitated and now this thread distorts itself into toxicity, I kindly ask his grace @angstrom to delight us with his presence for a permanent closure statement of this thread.
Indeed. I think it only escalated because I don't back down from my opinions, so as long as someone is willing to argue, I won't disengage. Since a few others started dog-piling him after he started slinging insults, things started to grow out of control until it culminated in this incredible deal.
I don't object, although this whole thing is still entertaining.
