Hetzner Price Increases Upto +40%

PulsedMediaPulsedMedia Member, Patron Provider

See: https://docs.hetzner.com/general/infrastructure-and-availability/price-adjustment/

No grandfathering, old and new users are affected with new increased pricing from 1st of April. Hetzner warns this is unlikely to be the only step they take.

Hetzner is not alone, OVH, Azure, AWS GPU increasing prices too.

At PM we are not anticipating any price increases for this year -- but i would be lying to say market conditions would not affect us as well. New service pricing may be affected.

We have some infra VMs over there, and got the notificaiton, CPX11 went +43% up not just +40%. The type with +43% was already ridiculously priced for the performance and marked for eventual migration. Some with console saying "This server plan is deprecated and can no longer be ordered. Existing servers of that plan will continue to work as before, and no action is required on your part. It is possible to migrate this server to another server plan by using the Rescale feature. Go to Rescale" ....

Careful with backups, snapshots increased +30%.

All different types of VMs we have there went +34% to +43%, with the snapshots +30%.

    Servers a flat +3%.
Take from that what you will ...

Doesn't matter much to us, it's just some backend infra stuff, but can imagine how badly this hurts some people for whom these are actually meaningful costs.

  • Ouch but $7?

Wondering how OVH will handle this

Ionos to increase pricing for existing custs? I have no corespondence about that.

  • interesting to see that gpu servers have the smallest price increase?! Counter intuitive when you think that the ai market should be booming right now...

Demands for those are very minimal in compare to general services. Niche, already insane markup.

ram and storage prices increased way more than consumer gpus

If they will add that bandwidth limit as it is on Dedicated server, maybe I will continue to work with them even if the price goes with 1 euro upper.

why not just use a dedi at this point?

@fluffernutter for hosted email are good enough. By the way, photo has been took from reddit. And this can happen by anytime, to anyone.

@PulsedMedia, hello again. How's your sauna? Don't forget to de-stress from rising prices.
Everyone is hurt. Hyperscaler is insane. They're spending like crazy but didn't realized spending something on something that would be increasingly inferior than the newest high-end Nvidia card (at this point, it's going to be a slab), would cause unscheduled writeoff. Hang in there (at least by 2028)

    It's cooked

    KEY NUMBERS (2026)

    Annual Revenue

    • AI industry total: $30-45B
    • OpenAI: $12-20B
    • Anthropic: $14-18B
    • Others: $5-10B

    Capital Expenditure

    • Total hyperscaler AI capex: $450B
    • Amazon: $150B
    • Alphabet: $131-139B
    • Microsoft: $105-109B
    • Meta: $86-101B
    • Oracle: $23-30B
    • Government (Stargate): $100B immediate, $500B committed

    Critical Ratio

    • Capex/Revenue: 10:1 to 15:1
    • Operating expenses (3yr): $300B
    • Total cost (3yr): $750B
    • Best case revenue (3yr): $380B
    • Minimum loss over cycle: $370-470B
    • ROI: -82% to -104%

  • Every company is looking to cash in right now. I doubt their real expenses have gone up that much.

May we see price increasing on Proton Mail, or Microsoft 365 ?

Cost of replacement hardware has gone up. Cost of getting new hardware has gone up. This reflects on providers since they don't operate their own fabs or manufacturing processes.

They sent us email with the new prices but they don't mention the price for each dedicated server. That being said, we can't know which will be the new price for each of our servers. I asked them and they replied that I will learn it after I receive the invoice. It is a surprise! What a professional way to go!

If old hardware , then maybe
if they try to buy new hardware , you are wrong . Cost is much more than what price increase by these companies .
Hosting companies are last to increase price due to so tough competition in the field and if they increasing price , there must be other factors increasing prices in supply chains

You mean in bulk? That may work in other countries, in Romania you'll have the same price.

    35 USD per TB

  • How does RAM price increase impact already deployed dedicated servers?

  • @WindsOfChange said:

Delegating the share of burden of new orders to old orders also I guess.

  • @WindsOfChange said:

Replacement and new supply can't only affect new servers; we will affect all the stock, so we gain more profit and gain profit from the loss in the new dedicated server that was deployed 4 months ago.
