Congratulations on your first LET post.

It's the third week of the outage, and still no one knows what's going on?

They "are working really hard on everything"

I got a refund (which I didn't want, I wanted my service back):
    https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4734415#Comment_4734415

I'm now left with $7.66 of credit balance at hostslick which is impossible to use as the cheapest thing they offer is $88.15/m for some overpriced 16GB dedi.

can't you pull those $7.66 to your previous payment method?
feels like it's not even legal if you can't move the money anywhere

I think it was done to previous payment method?

Yeah, just looking through my card transactions it seems like I paid once when I received an invoice (17/11/2025), and then you took payment again on the renewal date (29/11/2025) and that ended up in my credit balance. I didn't even notice the payment at the time as there was a lot of stuff going on that weekend.

I'd raised a separate ticket about the double payment, but just linked it from the first. But for reference the second ticket is 551710.

Ah, to be fair to @HostSlick, he just messaged me to confirm my paypal e-mail for the refund, and when I logged on I saw there was an automatic annual payment set up which explains why the second payment happened even though I'd already paid.

So looks like it was my fault for forgetting paypal was set up for recurring payments when I went to pay manually.

Just to update everyone, as soon as I pointed out the second transaction, Max was pretty quick in dealing with it and issuing the refund.

It looks like it was my fault as well for letting paypal do an automatic annual payment and then also doing a payment manually when I got the invoice, not realising that paypal was going to automatically send them money anyway.

  • So what now? You have a new vps, don't have vps?

Has anything been posted anywhere explaining what's going on at all apart that they are full 3 weeks busy with replying canned messages about "escalation this to the technical department to look further into this issue"?

No new vps. I have a refund of both payments though, so if another VPS turns up it's a bonus and if not, then so be it.

The messages did sound like they were still trying to work through the backlog, so I dunno really.

  • Journal Report #3: Twenty long days have passed since my poor little VPS last saw the light of day. Just as all hope seemed lost, a glimmer of salvation was reignited when HostSlick's shining radiance finally graced the LET forum to acknowledge an "incident." The specifics remain entirely hazy. Was it a simple case of fat fingers, ransomware attack, a rogue sentient AI, or perhaps aliens from the dreaded Fiber System??? The lack of an ETA is admittedly worrisome, yet my steadfast faith in HostSlick's ability to navigate this cyberstorm endures.

  • I closed mine and gave up. Refund for last payment was issued. Just moved providers.

  • @HostSlick any updates , when services will back to work ?

  • I have 3 VPs with @HostSlick and all are working just fine.
I had to reinstall them after the incident, thought.

  • @pitadavespa said: I had to reinstall them after the incident, thought.

Some can't reinstall because there's no VPS available to reinstall at all. The VPS has been removed from Virtualizor but is still marked as active in WHMCS.

24 days later, and it’s still a bit mysterious what happened. Did clients’ data leak?

Same here; did not received any e-mail, so just found out.. the consoles of my VPS's:

Thanks for encrypting my already encrypted backup files cloudcone_raidbot :D

@HostSlick did they exfiltrate data, or just encrypted it?

There is no automated payment configured by @HostSlick for its licenses?

@HostSlick - payments nowadays can be done automatically with bank cards and direct debits :smirk: (this info should help you for your shard-hosting customers). There is no need to have customers load your support with things that can be handled automatically and configured for multiple automated notifications when payments fail.

It can't be known for sure whether or not the data was exfiltrated, but the attack was done by an idiot script kiddie who had to vibe code a ransomware script, so I suspect your data remains private. The UUID isn't actually sensitive, btw.

Note that it is not actually encrypted. The data is partially destroyed because their crappy AI-generated "ransomware" script doesn't actually work. People who have paid the ransom got nothing back.

Also, only the first and last 512 MiB of the partition is destroyed. You could run photorec to recover most of your data.

@HostSlick, well, if you got spare time on taking new customers, do you want to share an update for your existing ones?

Has anyone heard from Max lately?

It seems like he's playing dead and delaying because of the PayPal dispute/chargeback deadline.
What's now? A month and a half outage without a word about what's happening?

  • Hello,
I’ve just finished a busy period at work, and when I checked HostSlik for the first time in a while, I couldn’t log in to VirtualizorPanel. I submitted a support ticket but haven’t received a response, so I’m posting here.
Has something been going on with HostSlik lately?
Could someone please explain what’s happening?

    Gist of the story.

Their focus is on big servers now and vps business is something they are not/should not be bothered with.

That "are not" and "should not" are different things.

That he isn't bothered with it is apparantly what's happening. But he should be bothered with it. Simply because he and his (VPS) customers have a mutual obligation against eachother. The customer should pay for it (and they have), he should deliver as promised. And if he doesn't want to provide anymore, he'll just have to disable renewals, don't offer VPSes anymore, and within some time all the VPS customers are gone. But during that time you should deliver what you've promised.

He may think that he can get away with it, however, since things are going "OK" for the other parts of the company. However, it will affect the brand "Hostslick" and it'll bite you in the tail sooner or later. Because if this is the attitude he has, he'll expose similar behaviour against other types of customers.

It’s already downhill. Time to try and do a chargeback.

  • Common guys, just move to a different provider, there are plenty. It is like Nuyek, who was somebody's best friend and got disappeared suddenly.

This is not some summer host; @HostSlick has almost 10 years in business (much much older business than Nuyek). One has the right to ask questions and be extremely worried, because this was not some small provider with just one year in business.
