This is advertised here on LET as Dual E5-2690v2, but on your site it mentions "or E5-1650v3". Along with the "no refunds" stipulation here, it makes me nervous to purchase. I'd be pissed if I ordered and got an E5-1650v3 instead of dual E5-2690v2s. Also, is the discount recurring? Are you willing to commit to any time period where the same pricing is guaranteed? I don't want to put 40TB of data on this thing and find out the monthly bill is doubling 6 months from now.

@HostDZire is generally a decent provider that doesn't do dodgy stuff

Fuck... You really trying to talk me into ordering are ya?

Okay its fixed now, it not showing E5-1650v3 in order page.
And orders were delivered E5-2690v2 so we delivered as promissed.

Can I assume that you're not interested in my business since you didn't respond to my questions?

    Yes you are right 👍

Can I ask why asking for clarification on the terms of the deal you posted was a bad thing?

I'll clarify here in case there is a language or cultural barrier. I was not accusing the provider of doing anything purposefully dishonest. I thought maybe the listing was re-used and I just wanted to know what to expect. It's still a great deal with an E5-1650v3, and some people would probably even prefer that processor. I don't think it's wrong for users here to ask for clarity on what they are buying. Additionally, we've seen several providers suddenly increase prices on what were supposed to be recurring billing discounts. Again, I simply wanted clarity on what I could expect before purchasing something that would not be easy to migrate once I was locked in. The fact that these questions were met with hostility does not make me confident that this provider will be a good long term partner.

This is what our TOS says:
So yes price can be increased if we want to.

    Article 8. PRICES

8.2 The amount you pay for your service will not increase from the date of purchase in the current billing
cycle, however prices may be increased from next billing cycle. We reserve the right to change prices
listed on our websites, and the right to increase/decrease the amount of resources given to plans at any
    time.

What a disappointing answer by dzire?? Shouldnt the original deal post state whether its recurring or a one-off deal?
Educated guess is price will go up (and a lot), and dzire is risking their rep on here for this?? Hope I'm wrong.. shrug

So... based on that it is safe to assume that recurring is not actually recurring. One can also assume that provider may advertise an offer as recurring, then modify the advertised price into a full price immediately after the first billing period.

  • @default in my point if view, they are resellers, so cant guarantie price will lock. What would happen if upstream do 3x price increase? They would follow right?

How is that the end user's problem? This kind of thing is more or less fine if you're selling a single core VPS that can be migrated quickly. If you're trying to resell something with 48TB of storage, and you can't get Leaseweb to guarantee pricing for a specific term, you shouldn't be trying to sell it. At the minimum, you need to make it clear that you have no control over pricing.

  • To be fair, they didn't specifically say it's recurring, and when you rent it, you agree to their TOS, which assumed you already read it. At the end of the day. they are reseller, so they have to follow whatever price, in this case Leaseweb, is asking for.

But when I asked for them to clarify, they got an attitude and then posted their TOS. I'm not bitching about something I bought without doing my due diligence. I was asking questions pre-sales, and they didn't like those questions.

When one advertises an offer as "monthly" or "yearly", one expects recurring, because it is not advertised as "first month" or "first year". Usually when a provider increases prices on something recurring, customers start leaving that provider. For others it also depends on the price increase.

As the market stands, it could also be better for many providers to simply close the business and sell the hardware for a lot of money to AI companies. It is not a provider's fault that the whole market has become not AI slop, but AI poop.

Price is recurring, it already shows renew price same in order page when you order.

At the same time as per TOS price can change if market changes alot.
Nothing special in our TOS, most provider reserve rights to increase price if needed.

But since you have asked by writing this:

I don't want to put 40TB of data on this thing and find out the monthly bill is doubling 6 months from now.

Then we have to reply formally right which align to our TOS isnt ?
If we say price will never increase, that statement is wrong, thats why we have to stick with the TOS.

Server i offered are not ours own, its from leaseweb, their TOS is also similar.
So if market changes drasticly just like it happened after energy price increases, or like its happening now, RAM/SSD price increased, so in events like that we might increase active service prices as well align with with leaseweb prices.

And just to let you know, leaseweb has rule to increase price 4% each year, we dont have such rule, so if we increase like 10% after few years from now, then its normal.

And till now we never increased our service price like 2x or even 1.5x so that assumption is your own creation, we never do that, even if any provider will do things like this then user will move, so there is no point right ?

So our statement is always same, if needed price may increase, because i really dont trust market situations after energy prices was increased following Ukraine Russia War.
Since last 15 years we never faced such spike in price forcefully, but since it happened once we can imagine it may happen again and also now RAM, SSD price also skyrocketed hence we dont guarantee permanent price lock for any of our services.
