Yeah, that was unexpected

Forget it, they change the rules constantly. Next year they'll probably just make up an excuse and jack up the price several times over.
No ddr3 servers for cheaper?
Hi,
even they need disks that rised 2-3x in price.... over the past months...
I don't because I still have it
Storage == @host_c!
And yes, they got somewhat less cheap - but they also got a lot better and professional.
Well done @host_c!
I will not touch those even with a 10ft pole my friend.

I checked Seagate SAS 24TB now costs $890. Should I made the purchase?
Hi,
if you love gaming, yes. And then you wait some time and you have some chance to get later >1k for it. Or AI will collaps then those disks will be again around 400 USD...
From what i see in the news, AI is buying harddisks too and the vendors dont plan to extend production capacity. So things will just remain like this for some time.
As it seems to me the only thing that can stop that in the near future is AI collapsing.
So better you get the offer with 750 GB from @host_c .... next time it will be 500 GB for the same price... ( if ever )
Yea, and throw away those old ones that still works, right ?
Hi,
this old DDR3 hardware? Yes. ( While i would actually sell it before its without value ).
Old DDR3 means basically high power consume while providing compute power of a mid-range mobile phone -- while prices for electric power is rising in most countries on this planet.
So using DDR3 hardware means to somehow motivate customers to spend more money on less compute power. This is usually not working. Not a good way to base your business on.
Regardless of this, DDR3 means usually unmaintained hardware. You wont receive any firmware updates from the vendor for this anymore. Also not really a good idea to base your business on.
Considering the fact that the offer has an IPv4 address and cost < 4 EUR / month for 750 GB space, while @host_c usually allow high bandwidth usage on this disks ( if i am informed correctly ) - this offer is not bad. Of course not as good as what we saw 1/2 year ago but well, its not the only thing on this planet that was 1/2 year ago better. There is a new reality and we all have to adjust. Hosters and customers.
But please lets not derail this thread :-) If you still feel it, simply open a new topic. I will be thankful participating.
I think the probability of AI collapsing within the next 12 months is low. And, I can't wait another 2-3 years to replace old drives (as, I think the AI "investment" bubble will popped).
So, I would make at least 2 years worth of replacement.
Seriously right infront of my 5TB 12.5$/qtr?
