    Is anyone here still running localzone vps by OVH? If yes, can you check the date of the last automatic daily backup?

    For all local zones, atm (Feb. 5th) I see a date somewhere end of January...., e.g. 28th or 29th. Seems pretty broken or do they do automatic backups only weekly and not daily as with their normal vps line?

    (See this both in US and EU with localzone vps)

    I see the last automatic backup of a localzone I have was on 31 January 2026 08:13. I can't remember if it's supposed to be daily or not but I think it usually is daily.

    Ok, one vps lz in Vienna still down the other one reachable but totally overloaded hypervisor/node. Steal at 10% to 30% in idle state and this is a current yabs:

    Incoming speed also dismissal. Not stable and useable for production plus management tools not working from ovh dashboard (restart into rescue takes like 6 hours if it does complete etc). Updating packages also takes like 30 minutes instead of 30 sec.

    Plus (and this is a current prob with all localzone vps): daily automatic backups stopped working a week ago.

    @OVHcloud @ninzo59 you really have to look into this product line (localzone vps), this is not beta state, it's alpha state.

    I finally got the ticket escalated to a different support rep (not the one anymore with those 0% quality I had last year and that grabbed the ticket again). There is hope.

    Btw: anyone that has a vps in localzone, check the automatic daily backups by OVH. Those are stuck since January 28th/29th in US and EU localzones.

  • Yeah, the panel shows "Automated backup: Disabled" for my CH VPS in Local Zone. The Automated backup" tab shows an Order link, and last restoration point is Jan 29.

    FINALLY!!

    OVH support (translated): "there seems to be a general problem with the Hypervisor in all LZ vps - our tech team is analyzing the problem.

    @emgh they finally admit that sth. is deeply flawed with LZ vps hypervisor. Maybe there is hope that they will fix this until 2027. Do you still have the MAD one?

    @NushairAlvi

    ERI is a classical oos location for OVH - more demand than stock. Same with dedicated servers.

    It's also an uptime and reliability king DC in OVH world...

    Hm you are right, checking OVH EU atm, I see stock for all vps sizes in Erith.

    @NushairAlvi where have you seen the United Kingdom DC (ERI) to be oos?

    For the longest time, ERI was always out of stock and lately its been back in stock.

    The Great French Triangle.

    Is it actually?

  • "anyone that has a vps in localzone" what is the significance/meaning of a localzone/lz?

    what is the significance/meaning of a localzone/lz?

    according to @emgh it's mean downtime and no support

    And I second that.

    vps lz = not production ready.

  • The only thing that is able to bring down the massive steal at the lz vie is a high (>80%) iowait.

  • @OhJohn said:

    Maybe it's a node-specific problem? A few of my VMs in the US show no CPU steal or I/O wait. The hypervisor itself hasn't had any downtime, though I haven't checked the network level yet.

  • @Arirang yes, it's only Vienna. All other lz locations in EU or US do not have the problem.

    But Vienna is fucked up beyond control since the beginning. And yes, it's the host node.

    20% to 30% steal on idling vps with zero load. iowait up to 100% on all vcpu in a gb test.

    Yabs cannot write test report to disk, etc. pp.

    You might want to believe that they use c1vhosting for NAS from Vie hostnode to Italy... :smiley:

  • I was reading one of their press releases from 2025 and saw this.
    "In 2026, OVHcloud will open new Local Zones in cities including Bogota, Tallinn and Johannesburg."

    https://us.ovhcloud.com/press/press-releases/2025/ovhcloud-expands-its-global-footprint-to-44-data-centers-with-the-opening-of-its-first-facility-in-italy

    It will be interesting to see what the performance will be like for those locations.

  • @concept

    But that is public cloud lz, not vps-1 lz. Atm only a small fraction of lz have those vps-1 as well.

    OVH VPS price increase:

    VPS-1: $4.9 -> $7.6
    VPS-1 Local Zone: $6 --> $8.5

    (exclude VAT)

    Effective from April 1.

  • I haven't received the email about price increase.

  • I go the email as well, here it is for those who have not received.

  • How many people are going to move to another provider?
    I currently have 39 vpses with them lol. Time to cancel some idlers.

    @addey do you still have that one? Is that a localzone one in Prague or one of those unicorns in the normal LIM DC in Germany?

  • I haven't received a price increase notification email from OVH yet, but I did receive a price increase email from Hetzner.😭

  • @zrj766 said: I haven't received a price increase notification email from OVH yet, but I did receive a price increase email from Hetzner.😭

    same boat.

  • Anyone here that has a localzone vps-1 with a AMD EPYC Genoa CPU and 3245 MHz cpu speed*?

    Could you please share your current iowait and steal (e.g. via top) vs your own load (sys/usr)? Thank you.

    *) and not the normal 3095 MHz that you normally see in localzone vps-1.
