[Gigahost] Important information regarding your Amsterdam service

This just came in:

Gigahost has decided to discontinue its bare metal and VPS services in Amsterdam as part of a broader optimisation of both our company and of our infrastructure. This decision is based on declining demand for the location, increasing operational costs, and significant expansion of our datacenters in Norway where all our on-site staff is located.

We are currently experiencing strong and increasing demand for capacity and new services in Norway. In order to support this growth in a responsible and long-term manner, we have chosen to concentrate our investments, expertise, and infrastructure where we see the strongest and most sustainable development.

This does not affect our network presence in Amsterdam. We will continue to maintain active peering, including AMS-IX, ERA-IX, and direct interconnections with relevant networks.

For affected customers, we will offer the following options:

• Replacement server in Norway with equivalent specifications where possible
• Alternatively, physical relocation of your existing server to Norway (estimated downtime up to 24 hours, up to 48 hours in unforeseen cases)
• If neither option is suitable, the service will be terminated

In the event you receive a replacement server in Norway, you will be assigned a new IP address. If you opt for physical relocation of your server, the server will keep its existing IP address.

Pricing and terms will remain unchanged, and no degradation in service or network quality is expected. Additional latency to Amsterdam is approximately 13 ms via our new links through Tampnet.

Our support team will open a dedicated ticket to coordinate the migration. This will take place gradually over the next weeks and months.

We strongly recommend performing a full backup of your data prior to migration.

For more information, see our docs.

Please contact us if you have any questions by opening a ticket in Flux.

Sincerely,
Management
