1$ deals are nice. I really like dotwee although its jurisidiction being in a hong kong is a little minus point for me personally given china's influence in hong kong. But this is still a nothing burger in my opinion. We will see how this continues.
Did new registration and am happy although one minor suggestion can be is if it might be possible to sometimes maybe having an ability within some particular hours after buying, to refund the domain or buy another one might be nice because from what I read about its faq from refunds, the refund policy is (strict?) but I feel like as a lowendprovider the team might be more reachable but still it would be better if refunds had a better priority in my honest opinion. but this might be a nothing burger as well.
It will be interesting to see how this service progresses. I genuinely wish you good luck for your future & maybe we can build things together in future who knows and have a nice day!
AI responses feel artificial and paint a bad picture. You are talking to humans, get some human who can communicate properly without passing everything through AI.
You're absolutely right~
Transferred a domain to them to give it a try. Pretty smooth experience. Backend is nice. Everything seems to work as should.
PayPal would be great but used a onetime use card for security instead.
Not bad.
Which one time use card did you use?
1$ deals are nice but $15 minimum top-up by crypto is bad!
If you offer crypto payments the minimum top-up must be $1, in the case of $1 deals especially! Most of the payment processors have $1 minimum payment amount. First look was better than second. I don't intend to use your service.
Visa through Revolut.
If accredited 5y, there should be a lot more domains registered.
Just a reassigned registrar:
Registrar of domains names s.r.o.
They changed their name to a company, formed in '20 so 5 years might be correct albeit not 'owning' a registrar.
Huh can you tell more about it? I thought that they had ICANN accredition?
Holy generic, holy shit.
Yes, just look up their IANA Id history. It (the associated company) changed in '20, probably to their company. And the registrar was probably transferred to them back then.
Worth to investigate further but don't have the time now.
Short story, it's faster/cheaper to buy a registrar and reassign it instead of going through the whole registrar accreditation from the get go.
Edit: so yes, they are ICANN accredited.
Oh okay gotcha, how much do you think it may've costed them on a rough estimate to buy the registrar themselves.
I looked at ICANN fees and they are 100k$ and 25k$ I thought it must be menacing to pay so much and I was sort of right if this is what companies end up doing.
I really don't know as it could depend on a lot of factors. Once you buy a registrar, you'll end up having to go through a process again and the the outcome isn't 100% sure.
Really depends on the parting owner I'd say? All relevant owners are from CZ it seems so maybe some overlap already? Like I said, it's a curious case given the extreme low number of domains under management.
Does ICANN, or the entity that has access to registrant WHOIS data beyond privacy proxies, operate under the same legal requirements regardless of the registrant’s country?
I didn't think ICANN has too much regulations regarding WHOIS privacy. It isn't an ICANN requirement to offer it. Any regulations would be more on the laws of whatever jurisdictions the registry/registrar operate it.
If they have to go through a process again and the outcome isn't 100% sure, what if they fail? There could be existing registrations from prior to the acquisition.
Crypto at first place, a bit dangerous. Could be crypto hoarder with a bad outcoming. The prices aren't that special, that i would need to change actual working registrars to another one from china, thats maybe sooner or later blocked by the government for data stealing or anything illegal.
Does an accredited company have to be accredited again after someone else took it over?
I'm not sure that ever happened. I guess the same like when a registrar goes out of business. The domains are 'awarded' to another registrar to be assigned by ICANN.
Domains would not be lost. The transition could be a bitch though. It could take a while due to the process and managing them might not work for a while.
AVOID this registrar.
They are issuing invalid EPP authorization codes, support is not responding to tickets and parts of the website are broken.
At this point looks like my only recourse is going to be a complaint to ICANN.
Thank. I'll move out asap.
