Crunchbits Review
Hello everyone,
I normally forget to write positive reviews for services I like, I think most people are like that. Crunchbits is one of those services I have had a great experience with since April 2025, and I want to make sure I don't make the same mistake of forgetting like I do for most things.
In early 2025 I was contracted by a company that owns a multimedia website with a lot of user-generated content to provide hosting for them. Due to their storage and compute needs, most hosts would end up being very expensive for them. As a result, I decided to search for dedicated hosts. Buying hardware and then colocating it was a little too expensive up-front, so renting a dedi made a lot more sense.
I found Crunchbits through LowEndTalk, I believe it was from some posts by the owner or one of the employees. Either way, I looked at their offerings and was surprised to see they offered lease-to-own dedis. That was perfect for my use-case. The customization was also great, giving all the options needed for storage and bandwidth (their bandwidth is super cheap, which is great for my client).
The dedi setup took a little while because they made sure to benchmark the machine and had to ship it to the datacenter, but they communicated with me throughout the process and made sure I understood what was going on. After setting up the server, they were very quick to respond to my requests to install additional HDDs. Installing additional hardware was easy: they gave me prices, I paid for what I needed, they installed it. They did not increase the monthly fee, as the fee goes toward the lease-to-own cost of the initial machine + colocation, not based on what's in the machine afterward.
After setup and installation of additional hardware, we had zero problems with downtime or performance. We operated smoothly for months with no problems whatsoever. Any questions I had were quickly answered (often within minutes!). Most support tickets were answered by Rafał Hacuś, who was super helpful and responsive. Big ups to him.
As I mentioned previously, my client's website hosts lots of user-generated content. Copyright complaints are common in such scenarios, and I was pleased that we never had any trouble with Crunchbits. I want to be clear: my client always handled DMCA complaints promptly and their website is not a piracy website, so I am not saying that Crunchbits is a host to use if you're trying to do copyright infringement. What I AM saying is that they understand how the Internet works and doesn't freak out as soon as a copyright complaint is sent, in contrast to hosts like Hetzner.
Along those lines, we also had a situation where someone was sending false trademark infringement notices to Crunchbits via Cloudflare, and I was able to contact Crunchbits preemptively to explain the situation. They understood and didn't just freak out, letting us sort out the situation. I appreciate that a lot, because these kinds of things can turn into nightmares with other hosts. Ultimately, nothing bad happened and the false infringement claims were dropped by the person sending them after some back and forth.
Over all, Crunchbits is very reasonable in the way they deal with legal complaints and will work with you in good faith if they recognize that you are not flaunting the law.
In May 20, 2025, Crunchbits was acquired by a company named Synteq Digital. As far as I can tell, Synteq is a company that provides hardware for Bitcoin and blockchain mining/staking nodes. I don't know anything about them, but the majority of my contact and experience with Crunchbits has been after the acquisition, so it seems that Synteq hasn't done anything negative to Crunchbits.
It is important to note that most of Crunchbits' products are marked as out of stock on their website, including their VPS and LTO dedis. Their other dedi offerings prompt you to email them, so it seems that they're mostly providing dedi services on a quote basis. I'm not sure, and can't speak to that. I am a little disappointed in no new LTO offerings, though.
If I remember correctly, IncogNET uses Crunchbits for one of their hosting providers, which if still true, means another big plus for Crunchbits. Privacy and free speech rights are very important to me personally, and even from a business perspective, hosts friendly to free speech are more likely to deal fairly with you if you host a lot of UGC.
In conclusion, I really like Crunchbits technically and support-wise. My experience has been nothing but good with them, and I highly recommend them. Their bandwidth pricing is great and isn't marketed as "unlimited" while throttling you.

Thanks for sharing your experience
@skorupion is him on LET afaik
Yes, it's true. IncogNET uses them in Spokane and Valley Forge.
probably the reason why they're stable still
There are also others using them like kyun.host ( @naphtha ) and @HostBilby .
They are notoriously out of stock. I had to win a quiz to get a chance to buy one vps at $7/y from them
The other locations aren’t stable? I’ve had no issues with my VPSes in KCMO etc.
Great to know they also host Kyun. I respect Kyun's dedication to freedom and privacy as well. Knowing that Kyun uses Crunchbits reflects well on Crunchbits.
Never said that. I only had their service in Spokane (from US locations).
It has been stable all the time, so I think that makes crunchbits a reliable backbone provider.
No idea how it is in other locs.
It is me indeed! Thank you for the ping @oloke!
As for you @r33k, I'd like to really thank you for the kind words! These kinds of reviews are what power us to continue providing the best service that we can to our customers, and let us have the energy to keep everyone updated, happy, and taken care of!
Can I pay with good reviews then
No relation. My username also implies I smell worse than you, LOL.
We love crunchy.
We have 100 squats deposited with crunchy.
Crunchy gib 3GB VPS for 30 squats/year.
VPS has BGP session and newtork is fast my man.
Positive reviews are great. I still wonder though what happened to the Provider Poll of 2025 which should have been started by @jbiloh or some other admin.
I thought they've been largely out of stock of possibly all product offerings since being acquired. The positive review is cool and I also have no problems with him, but, the lack of capacity for such a decent amount of time now also lining up with being acquired is weird to me.
It seems like a classic case of buying a company and then being lazy and coasting off the money it currently makes. I haven't tried contacting them about getting another server, so I don't know.
I hope they restock and try to market themselves, I believe they would get far if they did.
We are discussing internally running the provider poll.
First: thank you very much for the review. Does mean a lot, is great to have other customers link me and it's something positive
Regarding stock: It's mainly because we're doing extremely substantial upgrades/add-ons behind the scenes. A lot of it are things that you won't really notice, and that is on purpose. Converting all services to A+B/HA in every rack by default (trying to do this without impacting existing customers to the best of our ability). Adding additional fiber routes (redundancy/spare capacity). Adding additional T1's (expect to see 2 more joining all 5 locations within 30-45 days pending XC's right now).
A lot of core stuff has been ready, and I've purposely held off knowing we'd deliver something that would be prone to a significant change (as-in type of hardware or value increase for customers) that would be unfair to 'change the terms/value prop of a deal' so soon when I had knowledge beforehand that it was coming. Does it end up with us eating dead hardware longer than I want? Yes. Trust me, pressure from every direction to not have that
I don't think I'll be in any trouble for saying this, as it's not hard to infer: my (and my whole team's) personal success is extremely well-aligned on making significant improvements/growing the business. If I walk or phone it in, I would have been better off not doing the acquisition at all. It's more of a "take as much pain as possible now" to iron things out for the longer-term goals and making scalability significantly easier. I expect the new stuff to start to be pushed out live really any day and continue aggressively from there (spoiler below for VPS)
It's been the opposite. I've been in hotels at each different site non-stop since ~Jan 7th until today (well, going to be until Feb 14th). We had a lot of prep to better utilize existing space, consolidate, prepare, and get rid of legacy technical/infra debt.
I know we'll come up with a bit of an announcement and short-term sale for LE-community soon as it's all ready.
You've already paid more than any sum of money. Just need to find that old special deal pic.
On a final note, there is something coming out that I think the space direly needs more competition/options in that we'll be adding for our customers by default and available as a standalone product. Making sure we were ready for this to plug in has also been quite a large undertaking, but an absolute need imo.
@crunchbits stop teasing
Keep teasing
>
I just want another provider that isn't a behemoth that offers hourly rate for compute/storage for short-lived projects tbh
Looking forward to the restock
Continue squatting.
Squat is the only real currency at crunchy.
I am looking for BG.... stock it soon!
I just have to second this. I've been a customer of Crunchbits for years and I've had zero problems. Rock solid service, good performance, awesome support. I was really sad that the acquisition happened because honestly I don't think I have ever heard of anything good coming out of an acquisition, but so far my services with them keeps ticking flawlessly so I'll might have to reevaluate that.
Been using Crunchbits for a while as well. Uptime has been stellar. If they've actually been upgrading t a lot of networking related hardware behind the scenes, they have done a great job of not letting impact customers.
So is there an offer at 💪🏽7/year?
@skorupion pls gib
I have two VPS with Them, and I can talk about only good experience. Really great uptime (=important for me), good performance, support for this prices. They did what promised me (previously). There was a few short network failure in the past, but they solved.. and now rock solid. I can think of them as a "partner" not just a provider (rare). No need better "marketing"..
I'm worried about their future after the acquisition, but looks like everything is OK at the moment. The only one bad sign for me is, the always "out of stock" products at their store page.. looks like they not wants new customers, it points to a foggy future..
@crunchbits Will we be getting the coupons for the new lineup when it comes out then? Referring to the ones people won on 2025 Black Friday.
KCMO I think is actually our most stable. Granted we don't have as large as a presence there as we do elsewhere but I get the least amount of "need to look at this now" type of alerts and what not from it.
The only location we ever really had issues with was Netherlands after the horrible migration away from Worldstream last year but that ended up being mostly an internal network config issue that was sort of unique in that we had never experienced it nor anyone we had consulted with had. Lost a lot of sleep, probably a year or two of my life due to stress and a lot of money in compensation and cancellations but that's behind us now (thankfully). 🙏🏻
Live and learn, I guess.
Back on topic though, Crunchbits is great and Eric knows what he's doing and runs a good operation. Flexible to his downstreams, it's nice being able to just LTO gear and pay it off in 10 months or early. For a small business that doesn't have investors or really take out loans or anything like that, LTO is a low risk.
@crunchbits have very good service i love them ...there coustomer support is very fast ...it my 3rd year with them ...there is no one better then them in terms of price and support
My upstream ISP is Ardent Networks, and one of their upstreams is Crunchbits. Learning about that alone has been impressive. I think it's two, redundant 100Gbit/sec lines from Seattle to Spokane alone. Most providers would just rely on a single fiber line and then go out through Montana in the event of a cut. Crunchbits was obviously built with a lot more care than most, yet the pricing does not reflect that and is awfully cheap. I am quite impressed.
This is quite encouraging to hear. I'll definitely be getting more services from you once you restock. I need to replace my servers from the dying BuyVM.
Agreed. LTO was game-changing for me.
