I'm a student looking to use Oracle Cloud Free Tier.

Hello!

This is my first post, and I'd appreciate any help. Pretty much, I'm a student, and I'd like to use the Oracle Cloud Free Tier or a free tier with similar specs, but all my virtual cards haven't worked (primarily from tremendous rewards (so prepaid), and also crypto cards). Because I'm a student outside of the US, I can't complete any KYC, so if anyone could suggest a solution, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you!

i'm being serious. willing to verify student id or school email.

  • Oracle cloud usually requires a real debit card. VCC cards often get flagged since they do a temporary $100‑200 authorization and then void it just to verify the card isn’t disposable. School ID or school emails can be risky since they’re managed accounts and you may lose access later. Better to use your personal email, phone number, and a real debit card from your bank or credit union.

    Don't give people hope.

I have used real name, real address, real credit card which haven't failed in any of the international merchants but still they can not verify.

I don't think oracle accommodates any user anymore in free tier but shows that verification failed.

Unless of course there is country wise ban which is also pretty much possible.

    No. Oracle freebies are over.

  • Life is a batch dude. Get used to it. Or start a FOSS project, you get a vps for free with it. Just google around on this site you will find support for you foss projects.

Are those large ARM servers still available even? I have an account and made the mistake of deleting my server. I've been trying to get a new one for a year now but out of stock.

Personally I didn't use real info nor had any stricter verification.

Cheapest plan of TierHive is ultra cheap, also they give free tokens, so you can run server for free, for a while, i tried their service for a short test, it works, not bad.

TierHive KVM VPS starting at $0.10 per month.

Free credit on sign up, no kyc, no card needed on sign up, just an email address and a password.

    https://tierhive.com

Pick your own plan from 128mb and 1 GB disk to 2GB ram and 4000GB disk.

Increments in 128mb for ram and 1 GB for disk. So If you want 768mb ram and 333GB disk you can have that.

Haproxy edge servers with SSL termination and load balancing or fail over, database offloading and email relay included.

Network disks that you can move between VPS and manage your own DHCP scope and pxe options.

    Random enough?

They should be available for PAYG accounts in all regions. Consider upgrading to PAYG as your region just doesn't have capacity for free tier, and they aren't turning idle VMs off anymore.

Do you have a source for that? Would love to kill off my jobs that are constantly keeping the CPU around 50% because that makes it more likely my real code will accidentally hammer then CPU to 100% on occasions!

Unsure on this, I legit have my VM that too on a very expensive region, and it's been up non stop and pretty reliable. Sometimes it just reboots idk it doesn't seem that reliable but I still have my VM and IPs and everything.

Just my own recent experience with both free and PAYG tiers. Mostly idle machines.

  • I just had one of the monitoring plugins set up and a Cron job to refresh something daily and they never removed my instances when I was Free Tier.

But you can be PAYG and will keep the Always Free tier, and that would remove you from that "terminate idle instances" process.

  • Ask your parents/siblings/uncles/gradma to verify an account for you. This could be a pretty good arrangement until you return to the U.S.

They’ll surely line up to help such a promising student like you.
