Cheap-ish good India VPS for foreigners?
Hello,
I'm considering to get another India VPS in addition to my highly valued @HostDZire one.
Specs:
- 1 or, preferably, 2 vCores (E5v4 is OK)
- min. 2 GB memory
- min. 20 GB SSD or NVMe (I don't care much, but not HDD)
- min. 2 TB traffic/mo, 3+ TB preferred
- good connectivity
- payment option PayPal is a must
- modest or no KYC
- install from ISO available
- available to foreigners without much trouble
Max $5/mo, preferably cheaper. And monthly must be available (if I like the VPS I might rent for a year).
Indian or at least asian provider strongly preferred.
Thanks for useful offers & hints meeting my spec.
Thanked by 1HostDZire

(E5v4 is OK) is the biggest mistake
???
(I meant to say that I'm not looking for the fassstest processor but mainly for good connectivity and attractive price).
Maybe @SmokyHosts
Why? Meaning: can you tell me a bit more (as opposed to "I seem to have seen that they are in India, but don't know more ...").
@jsg Try to reachout @Abd (Webhorizon) , @balramm (Digirdp) and @BharatB (readydedis)
I don't do business with Digirdp but thanks for the other two hints!
Btw. providers meeting my specs can make offers either here or via PM if they prefer.
I contacted @SmokyHosts and am waiting for their response.
@jsg
Replied with a custom deal!
Hi,
Melbicom has VPS in Mumbai for 5.7 €/month with the following specs:
CPU 1 core
RAM 2GB
Storage 20GB
Bandwidth up to 1 Gbps.
If the monthly quota 2TB is exceeded, the throughput is reduced to 10 Mbps.
Data transfer Unmetered
It can be paid with PayPal, monthly, with an option for custom ISO.
You can take a look here: https://www.melbicom.net/virtualserver/?utm_id=2025_BSTForum100
@Rackoona in Delhi
Rackoona is good. I have a VPS from them with 2 vCPUs (Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 @ 2.70 GHz, no CPU steal). It has 4 GB RAM and 40 GB storage. I'm pretty sure traffic is unmetered fair-use. Support can be a bit confused and slow at times, but they're certainly not the worst. They didn't KYC me, although they did say that, if I ran a Tor exit, I would need to KYC.
I'm not 100% confident that they have install from ISO available, but I think so. Note that they do not have IPv6, but they did say that IPv6 was coming soon. I haven't checked if it's available yet. It cost me $30 annually.
I am using aws lightsail and vultr which are the most reliable I could find. If you found any offers, please let know as well. I too am looking for a cheap indian vps provider.
@leapswitch
Thank you for your unbiased feedback. We understand the quality of services should be top-notch, which is why by the end of this month, all the VMs will be upgraded to EPYC 7763 for the Delhi location, also we have placed the order for IPv6 subnet; once it's delivered will be automatically added to all vm nodes.
We just want to be fair to users, so if you are doing legit work, go ahead and place an order and enjoy without any KYC. If things go suspicious, then it's simple, we wouldn't want our asses to be wopped for a $6 client.
For ISO, we allow manual attachment of ISO. just for this month, by next update of our panel everything will be automated. alongside Rdns, firewall etc.
How about some deals on the eve of upgrading Delhi location.
Unfortunately I found only very few offers meeting my specs and purchased a VPS from @SmokyHosts which isn't cheap at all (in my books, but hey, I'm not used to India prices), although they generously offered me the recent promo (50% IIRC) rebate. It's still about €7/mo.
First impression: they are friendly and seem to try to provide really good support, although not during the night hours it seems.
Can we have half specs half price ? Can be even lower specs, lower price
Update:
I just asked for a refund from @SmokyHosts and they indeed did refund me properly and even quickly.
Why did I do that very, very rare step for me? Because after waiting a long time first for my already paid VPS to be activated there were multiple bumps on the road, mainly due to their very meager panels (e.g. I could not mount an ISO myself nor change the boot order) and quite some to/fro between their support and me the install got stuck at a certain point; that's when I gave up ("had enough").
For the sake of fairness I want to clearly state that, at least during office hours, he/they is/are responsive, provides good support, and even "goes the extra mile" (albeit mostly due to their own panel limitations).
All the waiting wore my patience down but I guess if all you want is a VPS with one of the linux distros they have templates for they might be a good choice.
Thanks again, SmokyHosts for refunding me and even quickly and without problems!
Thanks for the review @jsg .
Just a minor correction there, we use the Virtualizor control panel, which majority of the industry uses and has a pretty straight forward ways to setup custom ISOs.
To be honest, at LET (or elsewhere), when we sell something as unmanaged/self-managed VPS, it comes with its own scope of support. When that is mutually understood, then i think refund is a fair way, rather than setting the wrong expectations, and running into a dispute, that something that was offered as a favor, is taken as granted in the future, eventually the company spending way more than it can make, out of a $7 vps.
Managed VPS providers like Liquidweb or Knownhost would be more recommended in such cases, as they are priced perfectly to fit in the time/cost of a technical support personnel, that a managed VPS requires.
There may be something wrong with your email system, since ticket replies do not send emails (not even to spam). Any time there's a reply to a ticket, I have to manually log in and check.
apologies for this, we will have this minor bugs sorted once the main functional tasks are completed for the panel.
unfortunately can't
@SmokyHosts can help
Hi Rackoona. I was looking for a Mumbai/Bangalore based VPS. I wanted to know what's the monthly bandwidth offered for the $6 plan. Also your looking glass page only shows Delhi, would you be able to share a Mumbai IP or update the looking glass? and please share YABS too, if possible. Thanks!
We only provide Delhi currently for the Asia region. We are upgrading the network in delhi which has the best DDoS protection for game servers. and we give 5TB as base.
My verification email from @Rackoona also never arrived plus no PayPal no deal!
And of course they told me (in a PM) , I quote, "Can you try using another mail or another browser, as we use resend for our mailing system, i don't see any bounce logs for your email."
To be frank, what I learned here is that @HostDZire is the ONLY indian provider with a professional operation and adapted to customers outside of India. With every other provider I tested so far I've encountered weird "hiccups", flaws, and/or bureaucracy.
Just one more example: some relatively well known indian provider was kind enough to offer me a test VPS. When I asked him whether his VPS fully meets my specs (see OP) he said 'Yes'. When I followed the link he provided the page said something boiling down to "indian customers only".
For the sake of fairness: it seems that the government of India is (IMO overly) bureaucratic and the providers must act accordingly. I get that. But (a) HostDZire is evidence that indian providers can work professionally, well IF they are able to, and (b) even if I can understand their situation to some degree, so what, if it boils down to hassle for (non-indian) customers or simply "not indian -> no VPS".
TL;DR (my personal summary); except for HostDZire, simply stay away from indian providers! Sorry.
I am not sure what particular error you are facing with your email. We use clerk for our authentication. Maybe you can use another email to see whether it works for you or not.
and we sincerely apologies that we currently do not accept paypal, I guess we provide enough payment gateways for clients to purchase including Crypto and Indian Gateway.
