So Cloudcone hasn't offered any compensation for this incident?

A bit disappointed they do not even offer service extensions for the offline time and data loss.

I think he meant his data is worthless so he didn't back it up.

I've never backed up my data, and I understand backups are a paid service – naturally, I wouldn't spend money on that. To be honest, I'm not particularly concerned about the data itself. What truly infuriates me is Cloudcone's attitude in their apology. My server was down for several days, and yet there's been absolutely no compensation whatsoever.

How much did you pay for your server?

Annual price * couple of days / 365 days probably doesn't work out as very much.

If your data is priceless you should have multiple offsite backups including at home syncing every 30 minutes maximum to ensure nothing is ever really lost, max of 30 minutes of data.

Their TOS are 100% clear on backups and data, your responsibility, even if your provider states they offer backups if things are that important you keep your own in multiple places.

  • let's wait and see when the offline servers go online again and ready for clients to rebuild.

  • Its kind of funny to see people crying, investing all that time into shit posts, having expectations of compensation and so on. Seriously, everyone has "priceless" data and multi milion $ worth of businesses on their 20$/year shitbox low end trier VP motherfucking S.

If I walk down the street, slide on a plastic bag and break a bone.. Who is to blame? The plastic bag manufacturer? Should I try to sue them? The city? Shall I attempt to sue the city of Frankfurt for not cleaning the street? Or am I to blame for not looking properly? Guess the answer..Same goes for attacks like CloudGone has suffered recently.

The funny thing is, that you statet your data is priceless, just to revert that statement like two god damn posts later and reveal the fact, that yo ass is to cheap to buy a 7€ per year storagebox, because in your brazen and arrogant mind you feel like its an other persons responsibility to wipe your ass.

Important data equals multiple backups across multiple DCs around the globe. Its as easy as that. Sure, this costs a buck or two, or like in my case like 50€ per year.

Daily backups -> Hoster 1, Europe
Weekly backups -> Hoster 2, Europe
Monthly backups -> Hoster 3, USA
Yearly backups -> NAS @ home

Surely this concept is kind of over the top for "normal" use of your VPS, but again, 500gb of storage are dirt cheap.

Please stop those useless shitcry posts in order to get attention. No one cares. No one will care, as long as you are to arrogant to accept responsibility for YOUR OWN data.

Oh, I care. What do you do now, huh?

To be for real, yes, if you only look at the data side, you should have backups, especially for such low end boxes. But... the fact that something like this happened and your data was accessible and encrypted by a hacker, should at least be a reason to inform everyone and give a compensation in extending the current billing cycle the days, the VM was offline.

I would never ever go to a provider who says after a data and security breach, "yea, sorry about that one, this was caused by our software provider, I'm sorry. You should have backups, as described in our TOS and we give no compensation, even not for the days the VM was offline"

Raise an eyebrow like the rock in his prime on monday night RAW. To be fair, yes, this incident was handled poorly and that a very generous statement.

You should demand to speak with the manager and point out which part of the SLA they have violated.

Not really a good example. In many countries it is local authority that is responsible for this kind of thing, so you can sue them and there are cases where people did it. Some were successful, some were not. It depends on specific circumstances.

If you read their TOS, you do not even have a base argument to open a case. No sane lawyer would even touch it. Not even with a 10ft pole.

Not sure what we are talking about. If this is about slipping on whatever walking down the road, please read about the concept of duty of care.

You can actually sue the manufacturer. I understand what you were trying to say but you chose a bad example to follow up with.

Clearly not, there's no sign of the light being obscured by any bones as it goes down.

If it's "real", it'll be some kind of clothing pulled up over her chin and the lightstick is inside that. Or it's just AI. But either way, not real.

  • @CloudCone at the very least needs to extend every customers renewal date by a week or so IMO.
