Litespeed Alternative

Hey all,

We've developed a Litespeed Alternative from the ground up, our initial tests are showing even faster speeds than Litespeed.

We're not ready to share the name yet, we're in the process of developing the integration with cPanel.

I'm interested in hearing from you all what features would you consider important for a Litespeed alternative to have & what sort of licensing would interest you. We're already aiming for even more simplified licensing than Litespeed's.

I disgaree. Full opensource projects are unsustainable. History tells most opensource projects die within a few years.

Better release Community version and Enterprise version. Money matters.

Proper .htaccess support and detailed user/client-level docs on that.

I gave up on experimenting with that side of OpenLiteSpeed as my results on what is supported and what's not were completely inconsistent.

How many examples of that occurring can you share?

OLS is intentionally gimped to not eat into LSWS sales. I think it barely supports what Wordpress requires and that's about it.

Why only cPanel. It should work for everything.

What the licensing will be ?
On litespeed we are using owned licenses and the expenses are a fragment on the value it offers , how your product and licensing is better ?
Why let's say we as a company should make a switch ?

Do you have a specific control panel in mind that you'd like supported? I only mentioned cPanel since its the most popular control panel.

It will have proper .htaccess support the same way Litespeed has too. OpenLiteSpeed is a stripped down version of Litespeed.

This, use it like nginx or apache, for whatever server www is needed.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Since more and more provider is moving out from cpanel

    Proof-of-work L7 Anti DDoS/Bot protection with no captcha's and 0 user interactions.

  • No offense intended, but in various projects and products based on Nginx or OpenResty (which is also based on Nginx), does your alternative product offer significant advantages? In my impression, LiteSpeed does not have a clear edge. If I had to point something out, it comes with many optimizations out of the box. However, I believe we can achieve the same with Nginx-based solutions.

When considering a new gateway/reverse proxy product, I think I have to take this into account.

If you plan to step into business, I think basic WAF features are essential. These include geo-based IP blocking, rate limiters, JS challenges, and other functions.
