I don't think they have Iowa - their server selection only has Utah and Chicago for the US. But two India POPs - Delhi and Mumbai.
Hosteroid also has Slovenia. For Chile, there's Grupo ZGH who has an entry-level $5/month VM in the capital, and there is Zappiehost in Valdivia (Chile) which is semi-unusual.
Scaleway is one of those cloud providers with pops all over the place including Fez/Mali, Columbia, etc. Oracle has a pop in northwestern Brazil (Fortaleza).
If we're going real obscure that is.
@nikio Racoona has the DC outside of Chicago in Iowa - probably they call that loc "Chicago" now.
Zappiehost in Chile uses Infofractal which moved their DC from Valdivia to Santiago de Chile in 2025.
Scaleway is just reselling Oneprovider Onecloud (yepp, but Oneprovider is also reselling Scaleway dedis)
In general most obscure locations don't help much as the connections and meet-me-rooms are important, e.g. Nuyek (in Southern Illinois) is just Kansas City with extra latency as afaik all connections go via KC.
Providers like Computebox are special in having really local connections, e.g. with HAM or BRE compared to others (e.g. some providers in Berlin) where all traffic goes via FRA.
I usually can't pay VAT since im outside the EU (US, NA) but i can pay in euros using revolut.
I was planning on also buying @rsk Eygelshoven, NL loc too (L512M plan). but not today atm, sorry. maybe next time
thanks for the offers @SoftShellWeb @SmokyHosts and everyone else for the suggestions! maybe next time
Annoyingly, some providers make you pay VAT even if you are not European.
forcing non-European buyers to pay for VAT is so weird
Thanks for the feedback. Just a short update: a few days ago we added a second upstream provider, SoftNet, in our Croatia DC. Please give it a try now. Maybe we’ll get a better rating this time 🙂
We are planning to open a hosting location in Serbia in February. Let’s stay in touch regarding this. Pricing is expected to remain the same as it is now.
I suspect they just pocket the fee in that case.
Oh awesome! I was quite frustrated by the connectivity before, so a second upstream will probably help tremendously with the prior routing issues.
Will it also allow Tor exits and have unmetered bandwidth?
Yes, it will be allowed to run Tor exit nodes, and the network will have unmetered bandwidth.
I’m interested in a VPS in Spokane. I only need a small VPS to run a private VPN.
