Cheapest way to host single 750GB file? (VC container)
Hi
I'm searching for the cheapest way to host a single 750GB VeraCrypt container somewhere online to be accessible by HTTP(S), preferable in EU. I don't care about security or redundancy, could also be accessible in public, also the file doesn't need to be modified. Not interested in self-hosting.
So far I found PulsedMedia, 4TB for <7$/m. But maybe there's something cheaper?
Thanks

Hi,
@NovaCloudHosting has some cheap storage VPS plans in the EU (the Netherlands).
Check out their most recent thread. I don't have a service myself, but I heard good things about them.
Additionally @labze (hostbrr) and @layer7 (layer7) may be able to offer something custom in the EU (Germany).
If you're okay with other locations as well, greencloud seems to have some leftover stock from their last sale in Asia (Japan, SG) and the US. I can fully recommend them.
edit: In the EU, there is also @DeluxHost (deluxhost). Recently they started offering cheap storage servers. However they have some network issues recently and I'm not sure how they'll be for the future.
Think I'm gonna try out your DediRock offer now, 17$/y is hard to beat, thanks! Seems to be located in NY, so nearest point to the EU.

no payment option via PayPal!
Thanks god, he want to protect his business from fraud payment
DediRock is too slow, only getting about 10 Mbit/s from my home... Also slowest CPU ever. So, search begins again
InterServer has only US servers
The cheap HostBrr offers would be perfect but all out of stock
@backtogeek @labze
Also if someone is willing to just host the file for a couple of $/year, i just need HTTP link to it nothing else (only used by me).
Maybe I should try Deluxhost offer, sounds interesting.
Cheapest yet premium quality in germany and france is layer7.
$5 per month for 5TB or $50/year for 5 TB. You should contact for availability. I don't think anyone has cheaper price right now than this.

@yoursunny aren't you the ipv9 guy? lol

HostBRR US location doesn't seem to be out of stock : https://my.hostbrr.com/order/main/packages/BF2025/?group_id=65
Coupon brings it down to 16.50 for one year for 1tb
Isn't it going to shit the bed unless on NVMe?
@buzzyLET Lol you're right, I thought the one besides 500GB were out of stock...
@TimboJones You are probably right...
EU location is out of stock currently I think so that's prob what you saw
What’s the coupon ?
BFBOXanyway how does a 750gb container work on a, for example, blockstorage from hostbrr?
It appears that ship has sailed.
I made some more tests on EU VPS, but it's still way too slow, probably HDD really useless for my use case...
I'm now using a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 with a 1TB microSD card connected to slow WiFi (speedtest gives about 50 Mbit/s). But even when accessing from outside through 5G, the access and browsing inside the container is blazing fast. So yeah, happy with that.
V30, V60, or V90?
@rpqu Don't know, I get about 90 MB/s read speed. But I think random access time is what matters.
@pvalerio I see. I don't think storage with the desired specification will be cheap today. Price/performance wise, it's probably will be advertised as block storage types
If you has a nice nas kind in home or company, you could try a middle vps , add a frp(or socat) let outside access your nas's file, if you luck enough found a vps make you satify, this vps only network requirement( very fast for you and you clients, if you clients wide locate, you could try get serveral net vps mirror), other could be very poor(cpu, disk... etc), may this kind vps could be far cheaper your now requrement.
@tempask Yeah I looked into this, but it's only for personal use so it's ok like I have it now. I don't have any NAS, I wanted to keep my home clients-only. But a little USB-powered RasPi with auto updates to set and forget is a compromise I can make.
@labze storagebox + KaraDAV
Case closed
https://github.com/kd2org/karadav
@twain Does this solve my performance issues? No. Why use some fancy software when I can use lighttpd as I only need some plain HTTP access?
Well I only read the OP of your post, and this does exactly what you need for disgustingly low price, yeah? The reason that you use karavps is because it's a quick and dirty way to throw it on shared hosting that may or may not enable DAV by default. Hostbrr storagebox uses Directadmin, so it's a good solution, and cheap as hell. I don't know what more you want because there's no way I'm reading all the comments on this thread
