where to get copy other than github?

Meanwhile service bots are installed separately, examples like Anope or Atheme (no advertising intended again).

  Since you are on LET, I must point out that even in our modern times not all cloud providers allow IRC servers; unfortunately there are some few providers which still do not allow IRC. Please make sure you read your provider terms and policies beforehand.

  I would guess so, but it depends if you really love them and wish to use them.

  • EFNet uses IRCd Ratbox, version 3.0 which was last modified 9 years ago. I would wish to point out that Ratbox started as a fork of IRCd Hybrid about 20 years ago, but it was modified by EFNet to suit its direction and needs. Even though Ratbox remained unmodified for the past 9 years, IRCd Hybrid remained active - its last update was 4 months ago - so you might also want to consider Hybrid since it is maintained on GitHub.
  • IRCNet wants to remain old. Code is checked for security only, because it remains focused on simplicity and compatibility with old IRC regulations. Last update was in 2010, and Debian also keeps an eye on it in its repositories.
  • DalNet uses IRCd Bahamut, which I would say is still active on Github - last update of code was 4 months ago.

  In my humble opinion it is best to be safe than sorry. We live in troubled times which only seem to get worse, so it is best to use secured and maintained software, especially on servers.
