.ps is pretty fun, happy to go with it.
Ton of words end in "ps", similar to a ton ending in "st". For domain collectors and hobbyists, it's not a bad TLD.
Yes. Also, for privacy orientated email service I would expect something quirky like .ps rather than usual .com .net etc
I'm not so sure about that. We've already got domains for the mail service.
sendemail.org has been around since 2002 and a couple other ones will be used for anything mail related 👀
Mail related - yes. Outlook and gmail are also mail related and com but I was talking about private email. However, having privacy and email in once sentence is very relative these days (same as having privacy in general).
Ps.ps
So it’s not just bring your own domain anymore?
For stability across years and decades, aren't
.comand.organd other three-letter TLDs a better choice?.psimplies geopolitical instability to me, which would imply additional risks to those domain names.Still bring your domain. [email protected]
But servers still need hostnames for sending/receiving. Some white-labeling can be done via CNAMEs as well but we'll use non-branded general domains in some areas.
Yes, absolutely. We're not using ccTLDs for anything mail related in regards to our internal setups.
@MannDude I like the new website design well enough, but please keep your logo red (not /s)
The blueification is taking a toll on me (/s)
Logo isn't changing. I like the contrast.
What's your flagship Europe location these days, Sofia or stockholm?
Sofia is the only EU POP where we can easily/quickly deploy new hardware at the moment, so I'll say that. (Plus it's the least expensive of our EU POPs, so I want to grow there the most).
How is the site, in general?
It's still based on our original design, but obviously "AI-ified" (Had Cursor + opus 4.5 really lend a hand in refreshing our design)
Your website is to what your store-front is to a brick-and-mortar store, so tried to make it better. I've already seen an increase in sales in the TLDs that we are accredited for now that our index page and domain pages clearly shows what TLDs we are accredited to sell directly without reselling. (Increase in .fo, .vg, .gl, .gd sales)
Old site already had a mechanism in place for stock control, had been there for a couple years I think, pre-AI slop. But this was enhanced as seen here: https://incognet.io/kvm-vps with the POPs visible at the top of the page with rough stock estimates shown there, and the original stock mechanism still in place for the in / out of stock in the pricing tables. Somebody suggested that when clicking on one of the POP / Location cards at the top of the page should auto-select that location in the pricing table. That's a good idea and likely will come in an update.
These pages got a big overhaul: https://incognet.io/domain-registration and https://incognet.io/cloudlinux-shared
You'll also note the re-appearance of https://incognet.io/hosted-email .
Still to-do: Add looking glasses for the non-hosting related POPs (DNS / VPN only) https://incognet.io/ournetwork
Someone suggested removing the emoji / icons. I may replace them with some proper .svg's instead. I've had a paid Canva subscription for years now, which is where I've always done most our graphics, so will likely use that to create some icon replacements.
Tbh at first I wasn't sure about the drop-downs instead of discrete location buttons, but since IncogNET may expand to more POPs, it's definitely neater the way it is now. Each VPS plan having resources listed in a cell instead of in a row is an improvement just from a UI standpoint.
I second this.
I appreciate that the TLDs available are on the same page (IIRC they were on a separate page before)
I like this page better than before, but agree with the comment below about removing the emojis in favor of theme-appropriate SVGs.
Just a note that I found for cells that can't actually be clicked on to interact with, having the border "light up" the same way as a clickable cell can be confusing and/or distracting.
(I'm specifically referring to the "All CloudLinux Plans Include" cell, but also:
As mentioned above, I second this as well.
There are even more issues than were pointed out there (and some missed optimizations).
If you'd like, I can rewrite the Tor pages completely.
best negative examples: Najalla and Flokinet! stay away from these two junk providers!
I haven't heard anything concrete about Flokinet that's bad (many Tor relays run on it), but I have heard that Njalla used to be a decent provider but has gone on a censorship rampage in the last few years.
It is interesting you mentioned them coz they are listed on all those privacy guides, so I was naturally gravitating towards trying them but luckily never did, this was pre-LET times. Then on LET I noticed a lot of people are complaining about Najalla mostly.
@MannDude
A few DNS questions:
Never really heard anything bad about Flokinet. They do obey Icelandic laws, so some COVID-related stuff was taken down, but other than actual government order or national law, I have never seen them arbitrarily deplatforming.
that's how it begins...
Popular privacy guides are utter trash. Hell, half of them even recommend Brave browser.
But was it taken down because Flokinet disagreed with the content or because they received a valid legal order to remove it?
Probably because they monetize people's fears. I went through it myself.
Not only that, but they do not teach even the most basic threat modeling, so everything they want to sell you is supposed to be protection against the nebulous, omnipresent threat of "them". Without threat modeling, tools are useless.
do some more intensive research on Flokinet and then form your own opinion. all I can say is that one of the guys who significantly influenced/founded Flokinet was a german from the pirate party milieu/active member of the pirate party. i would classify Flokinet as a political provider, and such providers should always be treated with extreme caution.
What are the complaints against Brave?
Client-side fingerprinting issues, primarily, due to their use of the Chromium codebase. While it has more security against exploitation than Firefox ESR-based browsers, it is very hard to close all, or even most, of the client-side fingerprinting issues with a Chromium codebase. Most people just go to one of several popular "fingerprinting test" sites and declare that they can't be fingerprinted because the online PoC doesn't have a testcase for everything.
Hey @MannDude, you look busy and say a few posts earlier sale questions get the boot over support. That's good, but, your contact sales links to a login page for which you need an account. Friendly push for sales
