People could just stop buying 30GB RAM VPSes for a few dollars from literal children whose only discussions started on LET are like, "hi how do I open a web hosting business"

Can't get scammed if you don't give them your money.

Yes but, there is a thing, where the monkey brain goes.
    CHEAP, FOMO, GO BUY NOW.

Personally, I would never buy a 30GB VPS, get a dedi.
So much ram but you can't really use the CPU cores.

Yeah, the CPU to RAM ratio seemed too off on that offer for me.

I remember. Many of us had that image from Autodesk because she was a beautiful architect. Fiorela Maria Porri would have been a great adult movie actress in my humble opinion, especially since the 90s had the best adult movies - but this is just an opinion.

It is a great concept but there is a balance here that needs to be fair and considered

I agree with against scammers or providers that are up to no good such as file snooping, fake giveaways to then hold files hostage, name and shame them but things must be fair for all providers too, cannot shame a business for higher prices without knowing the background, size of the business and costs

Most providers have started small and cannot offer the same rates are someone who owns hardware, manages their own network, this could make a providers prices seem "high" compared to the other provider. A small provider tries to offer the same to not be branded by this as "high price" but their business crashes instead. I personally feel there needs to be scope, not a one size fits all.

Yes some scammers will do "cheap" deals to pull people in such as 3 years for very little, then they run with your money. You will claim the money back on your card or PayPal, then waste time either trying to get your data or seeking a new provider. Cheap does not always mean cheap long term, end of the day its not always about the cost in money value.

Cheap does not always mean cheap long term, end of the day its not always about the cost in money value.

I agree 100% with you because complete cheap deals favour either massive datacenters or (issues in the first place like VeloxMedia's recent controversy)

I had discussed this with default as well and honestly loss making market leaders have been established (I think hetzner's a clear winner) as hetzner/upcloud/netcup and many many others have positioned itself to be really competitive, stable and cheap starting out but cheap even growing.

I think Default mentioned that its either the hunt of finding servers (an addiction lol) which interests people or supporting new people in the industry probably to drive competition. And if you are a person who requires lots of vps's you can try to give new people try but then again, there's risk associated to it of deadpooling but I feel like lowendtalk users are generous in this sense and know what they are getting into so new vps providers can get clients and scale much easier starting out.

But still, the point is that some deals are too good to be true and those deals are gonna be the ones which deadpool.

I think new companies should try to be transparent about things. People might pay some money more because I think cloud providers are still very unique when they are small and some people would be clients just because they can talk to even owners of the clouds themselves and get custom flexible deals etc.

Just don't deadpool because deadpooling is effectively either a zero sum game or net loss game for both and feels like a cat and mouse where people try to chargeback or cancel their cards and just drama. Sometimes drama can be fun though but I dont want anyone to lose any money or even have any remote stress because of such drama ykwim? At this point, drama should try to be reduced in the community.

I think genuine sustainable practices and transparency are the key. Veloxmedia I think sold servers days before it was sold and the whole controversy happened. Sure, veloxmedia wasn't transparent

But I feel like as a community, we definitely need to look at more of these such sustainable practices, genuinely rewarding those who are transparent over those who aren't since as you say money isn't the only factor and I feel like transparency is one of the highest values personally. Deadpooling servers or completely loss making which do controversies just reduce the reputation of this community too.

It can be difficult to be transparent at times here, most users are ready to listen but a handful just will troll providers, as some of these are long time members at times very little is done about trolling on the sales threads.

I get some providers here run there business more as a hobby while others are 100% dedicated to their business.

I also feel review or feedback could be a two way stress that would help the providers, since at times there are customers here who order a deal just to cause issues, publicly shame a provider for maybe not offering a certain feature, if a provider is transparent on what they do and do not offer but risk being shamed for a certain aspect not being included that is simply the market, if it is not included and you need it, its simple that you just do not buy.

In a ideal world I could be transparent about my background and business but I know for a fact I would be trolled hard although there is nothing bad but would give a clear insight into how I started and the place I have reached today but it really is a one size fits all with certain users which at times will dishearten small providers to maybe share an offer that maybe a little more costly but will still be online and running well in a years time.

Yeah I don't know but I see this thing too. I come spending most of time from another (more professional-alike) forum which is very civil (which i personally very much enjoy)

Lowendbox is like, it has either some of the most knowledgable people who knows exactly what servers you want or they are trolls lol.

Some people in lowendbox definitely troll but people forget that it can take a toll on people. Trolling also feels to me the reason why some hosting providers take it more as hobby as you say.

I don't know what the official stance of lowendbox on trolling is but I doubt that its not enforced very much and that's okay except that in this case, it can actively harm or deviate from an ideal situation

Perhaps in the history of lowend, things could've turned out differently.
