Digitalocean alternatives
Hi everyone, I like digital ocean, linode and similar services because they offer easy to create droplets, restore, clone, backup on demand unlike aws Digital Ocean is easy to use but what I don't like is their pricing. They are very expensive. I am after a reputable VPS provider which is cost effective but also easy to use. I have a client who needs hosting and needs good resources as well. I like ovh cloud pricing but they are not available in the US. I am not sure if OVH is reliable provider but I heard their name and their VPS being absued by scammers.
Any help suggesting a good provider is greatly appreciated.

OVH VPS are good. All cheap cloud providers get abused.
Because it’s easy and cheap to spin up new instances, some people misuse them.
According to crowdsec, DigitalOcean is abused much more than OVH.
Vultr
Tencent Cloud
Are OVH and Tencent Cloud technically similar to Digital Ocean?
Hetzner
I have very good experience with vultr and hetzner.

Hetzner.com, when you buy for the first time they'll ask you to verify your identity, but the quality of their VPS is really awesome, especially when it comes to price-to-performance ratio.
hostup.se – they give free 7-day continuous backups, and i can even download individual files directly from each daily backup. I've run YABS tests at different times on the VPS I'm using with hostup.se, and the scores are super stable.
Thank you all. hetzner and ovh cloud both seems tempting. ovh apparently providing more cpu which I need for elastic. What do you think about ovh in terms of reliability?
Can you suggest which control panel do you use for nodejs hosting? I would like to have automated ssl renewal, easy to manage websites via UI.
OVH is great in terms of reliability as long as you don't use their localzones. Also keep in mind, OVH uses some really old Haswell cpus for their vps so if CPU performance matters I would look at other options. They had a limited time run of Epyc Milan vps so you may get lucky and get one.
we offer AMD EPYC VM in New York - https://onidel.com/services/premium-vps?location=New York
snapshot, backup, clone, private network, postpaid billing, etc are supported. I can also add some trial credits if you're interested.

I have been using OVH for my ElastiStack for a couple of years now. There were a couple blips in connectivity over the three years, but overall uptime remained at or above 99.99% each month. I'm currently using one of their dedicated servers with 64 GB of ram & 2x480GB SSDs, and it has been working out well. I mainly use it to run a multi-tenant elastic for each of my side-projects, so they have their own, dedicated logging space.

for US region you can get Vultr. they are good. pricing is bit lower than digitalocean. but not much low. You'll get a good vps in range $7 to $20 a month depending on your usage needs.
+1million for Onidel! If you want a true “cloud”, not just another vps, then they offer almost everything you’ll need! I’m not sure about load balancers or some more advanced options, but I’m sure anything we list here will probably go into their backlog
Webdock
You could look at InterServer, Contabo, and BuyVM.
Have you had good experience with this one?
A bit. I've been running prod on it since they first released it.
