The suspense is strenuous ...
i;m facing a dilemma. my sister went all out and got me not just the awesome QHD display to match the 1 i bought, but also logitech g705 gaming mouse, samsung 9100 pro 2TB nvme and a roku stick to top it off. almost all of my wishlist..
so the airpods will be just an equalizer to the walking pad i got her, but anyways i am now contemplating..
i thought i'd just get me a ryzen 5 cpu and update mobo b350 to accept it.. but now with the 9100 pro i am at a crossroads.. should i get am5 setup? i don't think so... why would i have the 64GB of DDR4 ram? so then again buying the CPU itself doesn't make sense, as then my new nvme will be stuck at PCIe 2.0 which is allowed by B350 mobo.. so i am thinking maybe a 550mobo to at least give PCIe 4.0 (9100 pro can actually do 5.0 which is only allowed by AM5, i also had 990 or whatever previous version of that storage, but she picked more expensive and got it for me) and still get ryzen 5 5600 and wait out couple of years and then go for am5, or maybe even am6 if it comes out by then?
dunno what to do.. i do want the NVME to be 4 times faster than it could be with current mobo.. yet it still won't be as fast as it could be.. shit.. why did i include it into the wishlist? only giving me a dilemma now..
Sounds expensive.
we never do it. so this year it's like for 10 previous years.. not that bad though, all was bought on BF deals, so a total of maybe $500-600.. my sister is a big shot in a big international firm, she can afford it.. she has traveled 40 countries just for work..
Wait, is the board's nvme slot(s) really pcie gen 2? If that's the case and your actual pcie slots are gen 3, I strongly recommend just getting an adapter. I had one board that was that way and my solution was to buy a card and use a normal slot. Also had it where if you used a nvme slot on the board it would disable some sata ports
Oh I see. Well, nice then
ey i just realized it's 20:00 here now, so the social thing has ended now?
with my siblings, we basically just do a "secret santa" between us and the inlaws. Of course, parents and the nieces/nephews aren't in it.
It's past the deadline but I guess dustin will announce? I'dunno, I've never been online for it as work has always had my attention and I've never won in the smaller prize pool for BF (only have the NY thread since it's a much larger pool)
This is my first time in the social event, so i think dustin would announce soon?
I know @noob404 has won in the past so maybe he knows. Obviously dustin will end up DM-ing us eventually. I doubt it will be easy to find what happened with the previous year's threads
Iirc, Dustin will announce the winners very soon, followed by DMs to the winners. It usually past midnight for me, so, this is prolly the first time I am hanging around hoping to catch the live announcement of winners
I hope he also does a honorable mention for yangyang. I would have never guessed dub requests alone would put up such numbers!

i'm looking up and apparently 1 is PCIE3.0 ... dunno... i mean, new 550 mobo is like $100
tolja it won't be announced right now..
Congratulations to the below winners of our engagement giveaway! We sincerely appreciate the participation. Winners will be DM'd within 72 hours.
1st Place: A new gaming PC - Ryzen 7700X, RTX 4060Ti, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB NVMe, installed with Windows 11 -- @noob404
2nd Place: ASUS ROG Xbox Ally 7 Inch Gaming Handheld, Powered by AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor, with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD, Windows -- @Saragoldfarb
3rd Place: Hiboy S2 Pro Electronic Scooter with a 500Watt Motor -- @ralf
4th Place: AirPods Pro 3 -- @bchot
5th & 6th Place: $200 RackNerd Account Credit OR 4 GB RAM KVM VPS, deployed in any available location of your choice, completely FREE for 3 years + RackNerd Sweater -- @BasToTheMax and @PuDLeZ
(Regarding 5th and 6th place -- @PuDLeZ and @BasToTheMax were awfully close depending on the time the rankings were viewed/scraped, and one point was tied and/or only one or two posts apart. In this exceptional case, I’m making a fair-and-square, one-time exception to allow @PuDLeZ and @BasToTheMax to choose whether they would like $200 RackNerd account credit, or the 4 GB RAM KVM VPS for 3 years + RackNerd sweater. All other placements were distinctly different in terms of participation.)
The good news is, we have more in store! It's not over till we say it's over! And that's never. Let's keep this party going
@noob404
We don't always see eye to eye but wanted to part ways after this thread kinda amicably... In the light of Christmas and all... So yeah...
This one is for you
Wow, congrats to all winners and that's very generous of Dustin to give the choice to @BasToTheMax and @PuDLeZ
Once again congrats everyone!!
Congrats to you as well. Merry Xmas and a happy new year to you.
Wait what? That's way better than an Ireland vps!!!
I personally would prefer the $200 credit but I think @BasToTheMax also wants that one
If that's the case, then I wonder could you flip a coin (even a digital one) up three times? I will pick tails
I don't think international shipping is included. So you would have to deal with that or covert it to credits
No worries -- it’s not one or the other
You can both pick independently.
@noob404 -- Thank You for the kind words, I really appreciate that. Big congrats again to all of the winners (including yourself), and it’s always great to see the community hyped and supportive like this. Makes doing these giveaways that much more fun on our end
Woot woot! Great work on the big win @Saragoldfarb 🕺
Maybe we can work something out, I don't thing it'd be too costly
Woot woot, thank you!
Oh, cool! I was thinking it was one or the other and I would have been happy with a coin flip
I actually use coins and random.org for a lot of things when it can't be decided. In some games, people laugh at me because they know my answer is always random.org for deciding the map/level
Oh yes. The community and hype were unprecedented as always. Hope to see RackNerd reach greater heights in the coming years.
LET'S KEEP THE RACKNERD PARTY GOING!!
@ralf where you at? You won something dude!
