Onidel Black Friday 2025 | EPYC Milan | Double Bandwidth | Storage VPS & S3 Storage in SG (PreOrder)

all storage VMs, HDD block storage, and object storage pre-orders have been delivered!

there were a few hiccups along the way, and it took us some extra time to patch and build a custom Ceph, but it feels great to have everything delivered on time.

please share your experience, any feedback, benchmarks, or any issues you encounter!

    That's awesome!

  • Yep got the email about my S3. Might be a day or two till I get to it

  • Interested in Onidel S3 reviews, but I missed the promo at $24.75. Ended up grabbing a 1TB SG Storage VPS from GreenCloud for ~$32/year instead, and honestly prefer it for my use case.

Set up copyparty which has been fantastic - gives me way more control than S3, and the web UI lets collaborators upload files directly in their browser with resume support. No apps needed on their end, which is crucial for my workflow.

The main difference in my setup is I have 3TB bandwidth (in+out combined) vs Onidel's unlimited ingress. I don't think I'll need more than 3TB, but will have to wait and see. Not sure yet if bandwidth gets throttled or if service gets suspended after hitting the 3TB limit - planning to open a ticket with GreenCloud to confirm.

Obviously different beasts (S3 vs storage VPS), but for file collection from clients/colleagues, the VPS route worked out better. Missing that promo might've been a blessing!

SG S3 is working good. Could you implement a "Remember me" in the dashboard so I can stay logged in longer? It's very annoying logging in again and again especially with that captcha which randomly fails.

I’d prefer if there was just the one captcha on the username + password page. The second on the MFA code screens a tad annoying I find. Password manager seems to autofill it and fail as the captcha isn’t done, and by the time it is the MFA code no longer is accepted. At least that’s how it feels.

we also offer storage vps, in case you weren't aware, but I am glad you found a solution that works for you.

different products suit different use cases, but generally, S3 provides more value with less management effort - especially if you just need to store and share files or integrate with other systems. object versioning is also an effective safeguard for your data in the event of a disaster (ransomware, accidental deletion, etc).

Completely missed that, how much would a yearly 1TB storage VPS cost including if any promotions in SG?

    Edit: Just checked the post;

    BOX-1 - $33/yr ($2.75/mo)

    • 1 vCPU Intel Xeon Gold
    • 1 GB RAM
    • 20 GB NVMe Root Disk
    • 1 TB HDD Block Storage
    • 1 TB @ 1Gbps

This is not available anymore, right? 1TB bandwidth, in+out? or only egress is calculated?

  • @onidel said:
we can actually push it a little bit more

    Pushing to the climax🔥🔥🔥

  • I've tried a few times, and still don't know how to customize the domain caching of S3 buckets via Cloudflare :#

    Try:
    1. Create a bucket with your domain as its name e.g if you would like to use abc.com then create a bucket named abc.com
    1. Set bucket visibility to public from Setting tab.
    2. Enable Bucket Static Website from the Website tab > You will see the URL endpoint e.g http://abc.com.s3-website.ap-southeast-1.onidel.com
    3. Configure CNAME of abc.com to abc.com.s3-website.ap-southeast-1.onidel.com and turn Cloudflare proxy.
    4. Profit

    For example: https://mydomain.onidel.com.au/test_index.html

  • Any plan to offer S3, HDD Block Storage, or Storage plans in AMS?

  • ArirangArirang Member

It costs $30 to get 3TB of traffic more for S3 object, but If you can do automated-tasks, it's more cost-effective to store a 1TB empty file, which costs $5.

  • Hi @onidel
Do you have a monthly traffic upgrade plan? not a one-time data top-up.

not at the moment. We don't see much demand in AMS :/

there will be more options for bandwidth overages, such as throttling. We also cache data at the edge, so many of your requests may not reach the cluster at all, avoiding additional bandwidth usage. For anything high consumption, we generally recommend using a CDN for better performance and reduced bandwidth usage..

yes, please open a support ticket :) i think most the case people'd prefer to purchase additional bw whenever they need. there will be notification when bw usage reached 75%, 90% and 100%

Perhaps limiting the rate after exceeding the bandwidth quota would be more reasonable, as this would allow the CDN to continue accessing the origin without causing errors.

it's supported but is not exposured to the UI yet. what do you need? you can use your custom key (similar to Amazon SSE-C), or we provide KMS. For the later we need to setup our own Vault to keep the secrets.

Currently some of my applications (CNPG) don't support SSE-C. Would be nice if Onidel had plans to support SSE-KMS

They said they’ll do a 24 hr sale sometime after Xmas for Sydney storage. 24hr means it’ll be pretty short and snappy
