They can keep their servers. I don’t want them.
Does anyone else offer herzner pricing?
We offer fully automated hetzner servers in our billing - billing.spacecore.pro
If you actually need the servers and don't churn them each month then setup fees like those are really not a concern for most people. Still good deals.
labour getting expensive! they should offer setup-yourself options
I do think setup fees for non-custom builds are a bit icky. The servers are racked and ready anyway, its not like there is extra labour involved. Especially if one customer has already paid the "initial" setup fee.
Then again, Hetzner runs promos waiving setup fees on a semi-regular basis so if you can wait, you can avoid the hit. If you cannot wait, then you probably don't care about the extra one-time cost.
As for me, I go for Server Auction boxes anyway, so I don't have the setup fees problem.
I just wish Hetzner let me purchase drives outright instead of paying a monthly €30for a 22TB drive.
Hetzner's pricing is interesting. They have (very decent) pricing for remote hands and they will do a free crash cart + KVM connection on request. But that's offset by the higher parts cost. Going back to that 22TB drive example - a year's worth of use pays for the drive outright. I get it that they want to make money, but if they charged me a nominal €5/month after the drive was paid off in full, I'd feel a lot better.
😆This is the “surprise” after Hetzner’s Black Friday promo! Punishing those who didn’t buy a dedicated server when setup was free—Hetzner really did it!😆😆
It's most likely due to memory pricing. I'm sure Hetzner mostly uses the setup fees to offset their hardware costs, not because there is a significant cost involved in actually setting up the servers.
They didn't announce price changes yet, could be potential prices 2026 and ram/ssd pricing.
Hetzner is nowhere close that what they used to be. Moving them to the "Has been" provider column.
Imagine choosing a provider solely on pricing.
Lol typical hetzner already moved away a year ago, OVH is better choice for dedicated these days for VPS I use IONOS and NetCup much cheaper and newer hardware
I'm not basing it solely on pricing. Also configs aren't what they used to be, support quality has definitely declined and they have become more nitpickity with the small things.
Ovh removing setup fees and hetzner doubling them... What a year we live in!
Paying two months in advance is way too much... It would be better to go to the competitor since the difference between the two, even more expensive per month for the competitor, is well worth it if you need it for a year or less!
Sadly I’m pretty sure OVH will need to change their prices for servers with recent hardware at some point considering price increases
I don’t like this new world.
This is what they are currently doing; removing setup fees prices is only for old servers. New servers with new hardware (advance 2026 and more) have setup fees. And for me this is normal.
But yea ovh might go back to all server setup fees if the situation is getting worse.
And those price are without vat, I would have to pay 96€ to "setup" an AX42 193€ for higher end spec
Prices are getting crazy, at least now they have something to post about on black friday
That's not what he meant
Close enough
never mind, i only shop auctions
Yeah, they will need to increase prices but its still better than Hetzner. OVH CEO did speak on the prices and expectations for the future pricing.

What kind of prices are you getting with them?
well, you see Hetzner only Do "Thank" for mike comment, in this point make sure you will not get any point from this thread even with 95% disagree
Would you expect a big company to change it's direction because 20 people on LET are furious? ^^
I mean Hetzner got their auction system, so you only pay installation fee for the newest line up. Hetzner is still cheaper than 99% of providers, at least for the price per performance you get. Yes, OVH is cheaper, but they are also much larger.
Yes, for end consumers it's bad and most of us on LET are end consumers or one man shows, but we aren't the target group of the newest line up, rather the target group for the auction house.
If you need it cheaper, go for OVH. If you like Hetzner, pay the fee, you most likely will have the server longer than 12 months anyway, making it neglectable.
Lol, never i am didn't even mention anything about pricing even if they add another 100$ don't care i don't even a customer, i only comment about behavior
of course even if 100000customer complain about price increase they still have a reason for this and keep a up with market etc
even mike get a point, with 100€ setup one time they will get only customer with long term even with not high price, customer still will think it a good deal
Nobody is talking about folks those spin dedi server, ask for refund from them while its still in refund period, and abuse. Also this price increase will deter short term buyers, buys server for 2-3 months and moves on.
Setup price increase will create higher entry point bareer, so probably more serious buyer / long term users.
@mans_xd - Is it actually surprising that I would "thank" someone for writing something that tries to look at this situation from our perspective/a broader point of view? --Katie
Yes, very humble from katie
not to mention i am full agree with mike point and already explain that everything has a reason to increase specially This year market
and again i said that they want long term customer as even with price increase for setup fee still Hetzner cheaper than alot of provider
don't make too much noises in this thread with Hetzner, just comments nothing series couple of people just chating,
have a nice day katie
