I was plagued by the control panel downtimes when I signed up for my storage vps on BF - now it seems stable except for the fact that the firewall-configuration isn't implemented (but shown). The rest seems pretty standard.
    Support response times are good.
Unfortunately the networkspeeds aren't that good and the VPS lacks IPv6, will open a ticket on that and guess they will help me.

network is super congested, support asks me to wait until congestions vanishes and adds that they're working on enhancing network performance.

10-40 ms to the first hop is a catastrophy.

One could say "you get what you pay for", but this product is rather unusable.

open a ticket and have the ceo to move your instance to a new node.
My new instance after movement can have 500Mbps speed(also with ipv6) and no kernel timeout occurs.

The missing one is host model cpu. I have required this, but seems they currently have some problems modifying this in new node., I haven't get a timely response yet.

    Hello @e2bs2k1,

Okay, got it, thank you. I am still waiting on an answer from my team on the cost model CPU. Thank you for the comment.

I think it might be a virtualizor bug.
Not sure - you can investigate more, but faced this same issue with RareCloud.
When I initially got the VPS, Passthrough and Virtualization was enabled, but once I reinstalled, it shows up as QEMU and Virt was disabled.

  • Same problem on dedirock-65129932. Would you be so kind to set the proper cpu-models so that AES-NIS and VM-x/AMD-V work, please.

Hey @Rise9349 sorry about this, I wen't ahead and responded to your ticket in our portal. I wanted to offer what I think is the best solution here. Thank you for the above information, I will have my guys look into it.

    Thanks

  • How do you guys use the storage server with such slow disk(~4.5M/s write)?

Hey @e2bs2k1 sorry about this speed, not ideal for sure. My guys are looking into things. For now I did go ahead and respond to your open ticket to offer a solution for the time being, thank you very much for you patience.

  • Okay guys, my network problems are solved after moving my node to another host, which resulted in the need to wipe data and reinstall.
Unfortunately disk performance is now way beyond bad:

The best I could get was 21 Megabytes per Second DISK speed.

I now understand why they offered a refund.. well... acccepted!

They failed to remove the old RDNS-entries after delete the vm on the old host and creating it on the new one. They failed again with the new vm's records after terminating the contract due to being unable to deliver a proper service.

    Would not recommend.

consider impl SSD-cache on the hdd array, 50G:1G ratio should improve a lot without too much cost, though the ssd price is increasing rapidly. But is the only way if you want to provide the service.

Hello @e2bs2k1 ok thank you for that info, I will relay to our Sys Admin.

I am not: I've never ordered DediRock' storage offer/server... so I can't say. But they seem to be willing to change your node to another one until you're satisfied with the performance.

They have changed 2 times. The latest change was good for 2days,then become unusable, for some unknown reason.

    You can either:

    • ask for another change of node (one last time)
    • ask when the performance will get better (and wait with patience)
    • ask for a refund

I'm done with them(no insulting here).
They offered full refund and I accepted.

I haven't seen those speeds since my 386 system and 30mb hard disk and I think that was faster.... :)
