Dedi/VDS in India, 2Gbps+

edited December 2025 in Requests

Howdy,

I need this in India:

  • 4-16 cores
  • 64-128GB RAM
  • Small redundant boot disks
  • 2-10Gbps port I can buy 100TB blocks on or pay per TB/Mbps
  • /32 v4
  • Excellent connection to the local shitcos (Jio, etc)
  • Peering/transit with Tata/PCCW in the blend
The above can be one big dedi or smaller VMs as load will scale p linearly

Price benchmarks for the network:

  • $400-$500/Gbps egress
  • $5-$25/TB egress

Excluded: (already use or want to move from):

  • OVH (The Benchmark™)
  • Oracle (One Rich Asshole Called Larry Ellison)
  • Linode (Constantly battling with them when Akamai decides to change something)
  • Hostdzire
  • Redswitches
  • Any host that has to buy an entire new pipe to accommodate me
  • Any host putting their entire customer base on a single 10G IX port

Please give me some LET gems, I'm tired of The Cloud bros

Thankfully terrestrial via Lagos/Johannesburg serves N. Africa well enough for now

Tested them in the past, it was underwhelming, went to The Cloud and it was as shit. Lesson learnt, it's just how that region is...

Planning to retest everyone again this weekend from that new perspective and just keep 2-3 live I can use and hopefully it averages out reliably. Had to do the same in Ukraine with vsys/datapacket

Get a rack in equinix and equinix fabrics and connect your 2 locations using equinix fabrics. this would be easy way to achive whatever you want, and off course it will cost you huge money.

Other than i dont think you will achive 1G+ per connection speed for international traffic from india.

India traffic is like this, when traffic goes outside india, per connection will have limit upto 200-300Mbps.

Any DC, network here has upstream TATA, Airtel, JIO, and some international provider such as Telstra, Cogent etc.
However problem is all those upstream dont have enough capacity when traffic goes international from india, atleast for now i dont see that. or maybe they are limiting it due to less capacity. so it doesnt matter which DC, Carrier you choose, speed will be similar.

Off course i am also interested in find out easy and cheaper ways to do it.
If you find something do let us know.

    Price benchmarks for the network:

    $400-$500/Gbps egress
    $5-$25/TB egress

India traffic cost about 1000$ + per 1G currently. TATA specially.

@mw we are directly connected to Jio, TATA, ExtremeIX, NIXI, DeCIX in 3 datacenters in India . You can DM or drop us an email at [email protected]

I don't need 1G per TCP connection, I think there was a misunderstanding in our DMs when we first spoke months ago, right now I'll be happy to get what Linode gives me without their biweekly spastic episodes at a reasonable premium. I just don't believe what I want costs five times that (Oracle @ $25/TB)

If I'm wrong and it does cost that much, so be it ig

India traffic cost about 1000$ + per 1G currently. TATA specially.

This is exactly why I don't want a host that asks me to commit to an entire 10G pipe because they want the business and don't have the facilities to provide it. I'm fine paying the per TB premium or 95/5 for whatever my usage happens to be, if you can give me 2-3Gbps at ±$3k/pm and I don't need to keep OVH on top of that because your network is pristine, let's do it, just make sure you're confident about it

Off course i am also interested in find out easy and cheaper ways to do it.

I don't care about saving a penny anymore, I've paid thousands to these clouds over the past few months and I still find myself awake at 4am routing around their episodes

Well you said something like this when you tested our vps few months ago, so i thought you still have that kind of requirement, even today when you asked demo again i immediately thought why would you like to test again if you already tested and didnt like it, so i think you should have told me that your requirement have dropped.

    Anyways,
What is your current requirement then ? maybe post some test results of Linode which you liked then others can know what do you need exactly and offer you best possible offer.

I don't care about saving a penny anymore, I've paid thousands to these clouds over the past few months and I still find myself awake at 4am routing around their episodes

Then i think you should modify your post, and raise your budget, because whoever will provide that price will have shit network, overselling etc.

  • So far I have only used OVH, ReadyDedis and Leapswitch in India and from that list, OVH is the worst, ReadyDedis in Hyderabad had (as assumed) the best connection to SGP, but not on all days, and in general @leapswitch is the one I stick with and have added services over the years as they are the most reliant. Plus: I'm using all their three locations in the Mumbai/Pune area and interconnect between those three locs to get better coverage if one of the upstreams (Airtel, Jio or whoever) is going crazy again.

OVH is constant hiccups for intl traffic from Mumbai on a daily basis. E.g. also on those Europe lines that have far less hiccups on OVH SGP->Europe.
